When it came time to buy a new tractor two years ago I had every intention of buying a brand new Zetor. In fact, I had been looking at them and looking forward to it for years. Even had accumulated a small library of literature and workshop manuals. But then found my dealer was out of business and no one else local. So I went looking at Orange and Green and eventually bought one of those. And I have to say that it works fine. Good stout machine with good power and zero problems.

But I still wonder about the Zetors. I tried out a couple of 60 hp and a 90 hp 4wdshuttle-shifting cab type Zetors a few years back and was really impressed. Anyone bought a new one in the last five years or so? How dod it work out?
Zetor looks like quality to me...or did at the time. So they are still on my list for next go round, but not without dealer support.

I bought a year 2000 3320 w/Loader new in 2002. Had been sitting on the lot and had 15 hrs on it. Was my first tractor ever. Still got it, still run it pretty good during hay season. Been very happy with it.

In 2004, operations grew bigger and I needed something with a little more HP. Given what I could afford and needed at the time, I bought a Allis 7060 and ran that with many headaches due to age and use. Bought a 2nd one from a friend just so I could have one working tractor at a time as they were a lot of work to keep running.

Last year, I got sick of working on them and was looking for a 4WD tractor with a cab. Had to also be easy enough for wife to drive as she was deathly scared off by the Allis. So I sold both to move over to a 2004 Zetor 9641. I looked at Kubtoa and Agco in comparison and decided to go with Zetor because of my familiarity with the engineering behind them. They're simple, strong, and well built tractors. Easy to work on and I have found that parts are available and reasonable in cost. I have a dealer nearby that is not scared of them and knows them well if something big should break too.

While we don't see a lot of them here in the states, they are all over Europe along with Fiat and Renault (also very good tractors). I've spent quite a bit of time overseas and you see them put to good use. While the larger newer Zetors up to 105 HP tractors are really great workhorses, they do have their limits and purpose.

They are designed for smaller field operations or custom work. I'm not sure I would get out in the field with a large chissel plow to prep for corn with my 9641. I only run 120 acres for hay and straw so its a pretty small farm and 96HP is plenty for what I want to do. However, if I ever wanted to contract hay fields or run a Large Square Baler, it is too small of a tractor. You really need to look bigger towards a 150+ tractor with closed system hydraulics which Zetor does not make.

The bottom line is that you do get a lot of HP for the money. You would pay twice what I paid for the same in Green.

I've been real happy with it.

Unfortunately Zetor is no longer imported to my Country and has not been since 1999 (98 model). But I own 3 of them and love them all....They are strong, capable and easy to fix. I have been looking at the new Zetor on the web and like what I see. If they would have imported Zetor to my country...I would have bought one in 2007, but I got a Kubota M125X and love it....but have had more problems with that one in fewer working hours than I have had with the Zetor

Zetor has introduced the Proxima plus with 16f/16r mechanical shuttle shift and 2 stage powershift. They arent sold a lot, because 2 years later they introduced a 24/24 three stage powershift with powershuttle, for just a little more money. Called Proxima power, 85-115 hp
With the just restyled Forterra they have finally worked out some nuisances in the ergonomy, and added a 140hp model with their first 4 valve per cylinder engine.
Local dealer sells them by the dozen.
The Maxterra series, with a Zetor 6 cylinder engine and 4 valves per cylinder, mated to the same ZF transaxle also being used in the Deutz-Fahr Agrotron and Steyr 9100 series, is currently being tested and will probably be released by the end of this year. It will range from 140 to 175hp and within some years, up to 210 hp.
