I thought I read somewhere on this forum that it is not recommended to fill the rear tires on a Kubota cab tractor. Can anyone comment on this? Is this just me not remembering correctly or is this a fact. If it is true, can you tell me what the problem would be? Thanks

Never heard that one. I have mine filled with Rim Guard, and I also turned the tires outboard to their widest position. Those two changes, with zero hyperbole, made it a completely different tractor (for the better).

PS. I checked with my dealer prior to filling because I was looking at weights before I decided to fill. He had no problems with filing.

There was discussion recently about it. Possibly (?) related to the tested capacity of the ROPS. Cab + wheel weights + filled tire + FEL + filled bucket + largest 3pt implement may exceed the tested limits.

Thanks guys, both comments make sense to me. I personally could not think of why this would be a problem - but thought I might be missing something. Love this forum - there always seems to be help close at hand.

That's sad if true. Beancounter ROPS design. Doesn't help to eliminate the criticism of Kubotas being a lightweight unit. (Ususlly directed at the larger models).

Could it have said, do not fill rear tires if you have the backhoe option.

You can fill them if that is your choice with no worry of the rops or cab. I hate to buy the same thing twice much less three times so I like cast weights.

Sad? Maybe, but it may just reflect the cost of certifying a ROPS. The beanies are at every company, Deere, Case, NH, even Jinma!

Not meaning to ruffle any feathers but I find the above very unlikely. In my experience in the engineering field most things designed for safety sake I.E. "ROPS" has a built in safety factor of 2 to 2.5 This is due to the dynamics of a potential rollover is largely unknown and can very greatly for each incident.

From a business point of view it would make very little sense to design a marginal ROPS to save a few bucks in the manufacturing process only to create a huge liability in terms of product defect and the ensuing legal problems.

Unfortunately tractors are rolled more offten than you would think.

Hey, don't worry about ruffling. I don't KNOW, just part guessing, part deduction and part remembering a discussion on filling tires on the L39. Seem to be remembering that the answer back from K was that the FOPS would be exceeded.

But the real answer is ???
