Hey guys.
I was very lucky to pick up this little beauty for $500(AUS). Always wanted to restore a Grey Fergie and couldn't pass this one up.

Here's progress so far;
- flushed radiator, new hoses, thermostat, radiator cap, refilled with coolant, new fan belt
- new alternator, ignition leads, ignition timing corrected, new wiring loom, ammeter, pilot light
- cleaned air cleaner in diesel
- needs a carb retune as it won't idle off throttle
- rear tire has a puncture
- hydraulics stuck up, probably sticky control valve. Will check later and flush oil
- repspraying parts as I go
- many more new parts I'll detail as I go

I'll continue to post up progress. Excited to be sharing with you all and hopefully can get some help from everyone when stuck!!

It will be interesting to follow as I have a TO20 that has been semi apart for some years now at a shop. It was last piece of equipment from farm where my dad grew up...someday!

Anyway, looking good...what gray paint will you use?

Thanks mate.
Believe it or not that grey isn't the primer but it's the final coat. I'm using a colour called pewter found at my local auto shop.
Just using spray cans rather than a gun.

The photos make it look blueish, but really it's a nicer grey in person.

Quick update.
Fitted the air cleaner, pipe, new rubber hoses and the new alternator. Had to re Tighten some of the radiator hoses as I noticed some coolant leakage overnight.

I'm frustrated with the carb. She's just not running right. Struggles to cold start, and when fires revs really slow no matter what setting the throttle is at. Tried setting.main jet and slow jet but couldn't get it right. I'll have to tackle it again tomorrow....IMG_20190617_202709_resize_56.jpeg

Ok so did a bit more tonight;
1) replaced old fuel bowel with a new one
2) pulled apart the carb and cleaned everything!!

That seemed to make quite a bit of difference with the firing and it continues to run on it's own.
The issue I still have is that it won't accelerate quickly or rev high...it's just not consistent and seems like it's lacking power. The carb was pretty clogged but wasn't that bad. I managed to clean it well with carbie cleaner.

I'll try to get a video tomorrow. IMG_20190618_183949_resize_32.jpegIMG_20190618_183937_resize_54.jpeg

Tonight was a major breakthrough....I battled for a couple nights absolutely baffled as to why it ran last weekend while doing the radiator and this week nothing....Just weak turning over.

After many hours of researching, watching youtube, pulling my hair out I finally worked it out!! But first, here's what I checked;
- cleaned the carbie
- brought new battery
- moved the earth cable from negative on battery
- pulled apart starter solenoid and cleaned contacts
- retained ignition
- new starter motor

This resulted in still a very weak turnover and had all the symptoms of a dead starter motor or battery...turning over very slowly.

Then dad came over......he looked at the bottom of the distributor cap and noticed it was missing the coil rod that touches the spinning cap. After swapping the cap with my mf35 she fired up instantly

Safe to say at least everything is new of this little beauty! I'm back in love!!

Did a little more today....

- tackled the valves and got them within spec. 0.10" intake. 0.12" exhaust. Someone had buggered 2 of the screw heads...luckily I was able to get vice grips and tighten that way. Not ideal but they will be fine

- spayed primer on the tank, rocker cover (surprisingly the cork gasket was in good condition but I have a new one to go in) & battery surround.

- dodgy tape job on the steering wheel. Much better than the black hands!!IMG_20190622_134138_resize_20.jpegIMG_20190622_154355_resize_31.jpegIMG_20190622_154410_resize_40.jpegIMG_20190622_172341_resize_41.jpeg

Following... just because.

There has to be a museum somewhere in Vic if you run into trouble for advice. I know that there's one here in Tassie.

Thanks for following!

That would be awesome if we had one here in melb. I've been fortunate that the internet has plenty of information and youtube has great detailed vids.
My neighbour is the Secretary of The Harry Ferguson Tractor Club of Australia. and they have been great too.
