I'm looking for suggestions. I have a year old TC55 with the EHSS transmission. After using it for about an hour this weekend it stopped moving. It will start and run just fine, but the second you put it in forward or reverse it shuts itself off. My first thought was the safety switch behind the seat wasn't working. Checked the wiring and it seems it has gotten hot at some point, the casing of the red wire was melted. Can't find these wires on the wiring diagram, don't know where they go. All of the fuses were still intact. Any thoughts?

safety switch for sure.

Don't know on the TC55, but on the TC45, the seat switch, PTO switch, ignition switch and a diode are all interconnected.
it's neither simple nor pretty.

It did all show and correctly in the manual with the wiring diagrams in the back.

i will take a look at the diagrams again. I had a "safety controller" shown, but there were no wires connected to it on the diagram, just pin numbers.

Got it, the seat switch wires rubbed through and burned up. Jumped it under the dash for now. I will see if i can get the dealer to get me a new harness for the back.

I have a 2004 TC55da that starting blowing the fuse on the seat safety circuit. I didn't know at the time that it was that circuit, only that it kept shutting off, and to get it back to the barn, I went through about 3 fuses. Nothing seemed heated up or otherwise amiss. Disgusted, I took it to my dealer, who happens to be my next door neighbor. They took it in, and within an hour, discovered that the seat switch harness connectors were exposed and bumping the seat support, which was only grounded well enough with my weight on it.

Interestingly, before I took it to the dealer, I thought maybe I'd fool it and run a separate fused, switched, power wire to the fuel solenoid, so it wouldn't quit as it normally did. That's when I found out that the seat switch circuit shares a fuse with the ehss circuit, so with the engine now running and that factory fuse blown, the tractor would not move, because the ehss was inoperable. That was the moment I figured I was defeated and took it to the dealer.

I like your idea for a separate circuit, kind of like the "manual come home mode" some of the earliest computer controled tractors came with. Why not simply add a third wire to the EHSS circuit as well? If they share a common fuse already, what's the harm?

I also have a 2004 TC55DA and never had any electrical issues yet. But I did defeat the seat safty switch long time ago, as it started stalling on downhills or when driving fast, bouncing around on the seat. The only time where I had trouble, was when the hydraulic return hose blew, engine started, but tractor didn't move.
