TC45 Noise when braking

Hey there,

So, I've got a TC-45 that has 600+ hours on it. Recently (within the last week) it has begun making some groaning noise when braking. Noticed it first when braking while backing up and then braking hard. Doesn't make the noise when braking lightly.

It does stop (though it seems to roll just a bit first) but the noise is new and awful sounding.

Ideas?

If it is a TC45D model with HST, it probably never had brakes used much and they are still new. When new, the wet brakes are prone to "groaning" as many of us have discovered. If your tractor is a gear model, it just may take awhile to get the brakes quiet again after a long period of not being used. Also, some hydraulic fluids are not as good as NH Multi-G 134 at keeping down brake noise. For whatever reason, wet brakes are notorious for being squawkers. I would not worry. The more you use them, the less the noise they make. My 1500 hour TC45D makes no noise at all, but it sure did when it was new.

Thanks Jim - I recently did my 600-hour fluid change and *did* opt for the less expensive TCS fluids. I've heard opinions on the non-NH fluids from all angles and thought I'd give this brand a try and see. I guess that could well be the reason for the noise.
