2002 New Holland TC40S
I have a 2002 TC40S with a four cylinder Shibaura diesel engine with 422 hours. Wanting to change the green antifreeze but by mistake I purchased the orange "Dex-Cool" Compatible 50/50 from O'reilly's. In preparation to pour, I broke open the seals so they are now not returnable for credit. Can I use the orange ILO the green antifreeze?
Furthermore, on page 3-17 of my operator's manual, figure 3-25 shows a double tubed drain valve which drains the radiator and the engine block through one drain valve. I don't have that. What I do have is a white plastic petcock that opens the brass radiator drain which is located on the right and aft lower side of the radiator. While draining, it just trickles at best but did drain a substantial amount of green fluid. If there is one, where might be the engine block radiator fluid petcock drain valve?

Read this description of Dex-Cool and you'll see it is a high quality ethylene glycol based anti-freeze. New Holland recommends ethylene glycol permanent antifreeze. Shell says this can go 8000 hours. I think you've made a great choice.

BTW: When you were draining coolant, did you loosen the radiator cap? I'm talking about the one on the actual radiator and not on the filler reservoir.

Look just to the right of your engine oil filter and slightly above. You could have a coolant tap at that point with a hose attached or a petcock, depending on when your tractor was made. If you have a hose, it goes to the bottom right of the radiator (on the back side, not the front or bottom). If you do not have the hose, most likely it will be a petcock or a removable drain plug. Here's a photo of what mine looks like.

Hello Jim,
Yes, I did loosen both the radiator and overflow caps which only produced a trickle but in time it filled a five gallon bucket to just less than half so I think I got it all out. I then filled it back up with water to do the rinse out.
I did locate that engine block drain and thought that's what it was but wanted confirmation before wrenching on it.
My "great choice" of the orange Dex-Cool was purely accidental!
Thanks Jim,
Jerry
