I have been searching for something in the 40HP range and the NH TC40s had made it onto my short list. But now I'm starting to come across NH 2310.:confused2:

I know the 2310 is newer, but are there major differences between these 2 models?

Has the 2310 been out there long enough to uncover potential problems/weaknesses?

Is there something about either of these models that would make one preferable to the other?

All input is appreciated.

The TC40D, TC40DA, T2310 and Boomer 3040 models are the same. There are some changes here and there over the years. I noticed that my neighbor's TC40D had metal handrails versus the plastic ones on the Boomer 3040 I had and a 16A loader versus 250TL loader on the Boomer 3040; that was about it. These tractors have been around for ~10 years now and they are good strong tractors. The NH dealers on TBN might give you better insight if the newer T2310 and Boomer 3040 have less problems than the older TC40D and TC40DA tractors.

Some of the early TC40DAs had a power steering reservoir on the right side of the engine. Later models and the 2310 had the steering reservoir removed and the power steering pump draws from the main hydraulic reservoir. That's the only "major" change that I know between the tractors.

Thanks guys:thumbsup:

Sounds like they just muddied my waters by throwing some new numbers on the same tractor that I've already been looking @

They only used the 2310 designator for a couple of years. When I'm asked which NH tractor I have, the conversation usually goes something like this:

Them: Which model NH do you have?

Me: T2310.

Them: Never heard of that one. 2310 means 23 horsepower?

Me: Nope, 40 hp, a class 3 tractor. Basically the same model as the TC40DA.

Them: Oh. Why did they change the model from TC40 to 2310 if it has 40 hp?

Me: Dunno. Have to ask somebody in a higher paygrade than me. They did change the model name to Boomer 3040 after just a couple of years.

I have the same problem with my T2220. Most seem to think its a subcompact.
