Tractor
No longer have :-(
Ordered a TC40D w/17LA 3 weeks ago. Dealer has the tractor but is waiting for the loader. Factory was supposedly making the loaders last week but will not confirm that they actually made mine. Dealer tells me that the loader is in high demand for the TC35-TC45 series and that everyone is having problems getting them. Has anyone else had this problem? Its killing me that I finally made the decision to buy the tractor (toy) and now have to wait weeks to get to play!

I don't know anything about the New Holland production (or the others now for that matter), but I do understand how you feel. When I made the deal for my new tractor a year ago, it took about 3 weeks for the dealer to get the loader for it.

Welcome to "The Board". Muhammad has done a wonderful job here and we kind of like it.
I believe that New Holland is as anxious and giddy as the buyers when it comes to the newer large Boomer. Remember, the TC35/TC35D-TC40/TC40D-TC45/TC45D were a 2nd quarter release this year. I don't think any of the manufactures ramp up production like Detroit and the automobile industry. I do know that the various dealers are at different levels in the knowledge of the new models. Be patient. I think you have chosen wisely. These new versions are wet and ready when delivered to the dealers. All fluids and options. The first bunch to hit the lots are dealer ordered or buyers not fully informed. There may be some to see on one lot and none in a different dealers space because there is no demand or interest. Time will have told us that all is possible. You can have your cake and eat it too. For instance if New Holland had led this new release like Chrysler has led the PT Crusier with just enough interest and samples, the bidding wars would drive the one TC40D your looking at higher. I do think your research allowed you to pick this one from the many. It is still early for this model. There are startup problems with any product. More demand than anticipated. Mayby the 2001 models have warm hydro fluid in the pedals to keep our feet warm on a winters day. That is for us that like an open work area. There are tractor Gods and some of them listen. You will be more than happy with the combo you ordered.

I might also add that the interest in the Super Steer may have added to the delay. More 16LA loaders than the 17LA. You can't always have what you wanted yesterday. But when it does arrive, we will hear from you loudly. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

The only toy I have is the NEW HOLLAND TC33D BOOMER LGT in 1/16 scale made by Scale Models. A division of Joseph L. Ertl, Inc. That is because they have not released a TC35/40/45 version. "Including loaders"''''!!! /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

DVerbarg,

Welcome to the blue club! I've very much enjoyed my big boomer (going on my third week). Are you getting any rear ballast? I was initially against it since my machine will be used for mowing in the future. No I'm happy that I have it. Tractor pulls (or pushs) like a tank... just unstoppable. What tires are you getting? Did you look at many other tractors?

DVerbarg,

I live about 35 miles from a New Holland dealer pool in New Hampshire they have about 40 new tractors
and only 2 la16 loaders no LA17's. Looks like loader production is a little out of whack. One dealer I talked to waited 4 weeks only to get one and the color is way off from the tractor. Hope you have better luck.. Enjoy the new toy !!

The only ballast I had discussed with my dealer was the concept of using my 6' scraper box on the back. Based on your message and others that I have now read I will ask my dealer about ballast for the tires.
The toy, I mean tractor, is coming with R4 tires as they seem to be the appropriate tires for my application.
Thanks for your reply!

Forgot to answer your other question: "Did you look at many other tractors?" We picked blue after considering all three primary colors: blue, orange, and green (obviously I'm not an artist). Like many others on this board I believe that dealer support is one of the most important aspects of a tractor purchase. This decision ruled out the orange guys as there are no orange dealers within an hour of my home. This left the blue and green choices. The decision came down to the JD 4600 and the NH TC40D. Based upon the past engineering issues with the JD, the supersteer feature on the NH and my daughter and wife liked the NH better, we went with the NH.
This is an oversimplification of the 2 month process of visiting dealers, test drives, haggling, looking over brochures, etc. Its been fun but nothing like what I am expecting it to be like--after it arrives! :)

Its been two weeks now and the end is not in sight yet... There are 3 piles of dirt just waiting to be moved, totaling over 1300 cubic yards. This should keep me busy for the entire fall. As I have 5 siblings, all younger, I expect that I may have volunteers for helping move the dirt now that a toy is coming!!!

Wow. 1300 yards is pretty close to 100 big dump trucks full. Where did you get that much dirt?

My parents have a hay farm and have given me 10 acres to build a house. The driveway is 1400 ft long and was excavated 8 inches deep to remove most of the top soil. The house excavation also added to the dirt pile, especially since it has a walk out basement that had to be dug out an additional 70 ft behind the house.

When I started this house building project I did not plan on buying another tractor (I already have an old 9N). When the landscaper told me that it would cost somewhere around 9 to 10 grand to move the dirt and do the finish grade I suddenly started thinking about buying my own equipment and having the equipment half paid for in the savings alone!
