Your are more than welcome, we try to solve/help each other with lot of problems here on TBN and usually someone has the answer. I wish I had experience that would be of more help.
I don't think there are that many TC gear tractor owners here, and transmission problems are not frequent it seems. That may change as these tractors age. My TC40 is a 2003 model closing in on 2000 hours now. Except for excessive wear in the loader and bucket, it's been a good machine that's done a lot of rough work.
I do follow you on how the RANGE selector feels, it's not a real positive in or out feel usually. It always has given me the impression that it is barely engaged, but that doesn't make a lot of sense either. It must be the lack of a strong detent spring or the like. I don't think it likes to be shifted except at a complete dead stop judging by the noises if the tractor is rolling even a wee little bit.
It would be a fairly easy job to open the top of front half of the transmission case. It looks like all that needs to be done is to remove the seat and the case cover bolts. That would let you see what's going on while shifting. The fluid would have to be drained first and you might want a new gasket on hand. The rear half doesn't look too much harder, hydraulic lines for the PTO clutch need to come off, and the seat. There are probably things you can't fix through the top, but it would be a sure and inexpensive diagnosis method.
I hope you let us know what you find, or if you resolved the issue somehow. That's how we all learn. You can keep this thread up near the top where more or the 'right'

folks will see it, just use "Reply to Thread" and type "bumping--still need help" for the message.
