I currently have one set of remotes (07.06 FIRST REAR REMOTE VALVE KIT, SELF-CENTERING - 710366036) and a Woods BH90-X backhoe running off of the hydraulic manifold block next to the right rear tire on my 2002 TC-40. All is well with that set-up.
I have purchased and plan to add a second set of remotes (07.07 SECOND REAR REMOTE VALVE KIT, SELF CENTERING - 718334026) to run the already purchased top and tilt cylinders. The attaching progression is, starting from inboard, hydraulic manifold block body, first set of remotes, second set of remotes and capped/covered off with the Woods' two outlets.
Has anyone done this yet? Seen one done or know anyone who has done it?
The reason that I ask is because I'm having second thoughts about the lengths four 8mm mounting studs supplied by NH in the second remote kit as the stock NH valve cover plate that moves progressively from the first remote to the second remote is 1/2" thick. This 1/2" thick NH valve cover is discarded when adding the Woods backhoe hoses and replaced with a Woods 1" thick valve cover which now adds 1/2" in length to the stack.
Woods didn't know that I had an optional first remote set when they supplied the four new mounting bolts and NH didn't know I had a Woods BH stacked on the first set of remotes when they sent me the second remote set mounting studs.
For some reason the first set of remotes mounted with four 8mm bolts. The second set of remotes are mounted with four 8mm studs. In both cases, the bolt or stud that mounts in the lower aft hole is quite a bit longer than the other three.
Does NH sell a third set of remotes for the TC40? If so, I could if needed buy those four bolts to gain added length.
The two sets of remotes will go unused when the backhoe is on and the box scraper with top and tilt is off.
I contacted Woods and they had no answer other than it's a NH issue. NH has no tech help that I know of and my dealer has proven in the past to be unhelpful.
I thought I'd post this before I pull the RR tire.

I have three remotes and no backhoe. With your two remotes and a backhoe, I can only guess that you need the same bolts (studs) that came with the third remote valve. That would be:

1 each threaded stud (M8 x 235 mm)
3 each threaded stud (M8 x 175 mm)

Without knowing the thickness of the woods adapter, I cannot say for sure, but if it is similar in width to the other remotes or thinner, then the threaded studs from NH will work if you can order them or just find some threaded M8 all-thread and make your own custom studs.

Good luck.:)

Jim, You saying that you have three sets of rear remotes sent me back to the NH parts site and I looked up TC40D (11/99-) and there are three remote kits listed but my TC40S (11/99-) only shows two sets offered?? There the same tractor from a hydraulic standpoint and the first set part numbers are the same. I'll look into getting a set of third remote studs.
Thanks, Jerry

Jerry, there is probably not enough space for the third lever on your "S" model tractor. I looked at my installation sheet and it indicates the third kit is available only for the "D" models. The part number of the kit is #719339026. Now, having said that, I'm sure you will pay a big bonus for studs if you buy them as replacement parts. If you can find some M8 all-thread rod and cut your own studs, that would be the most ideal solution and certainly the cheapest. If you do a google search for "metric threaded rod" you can find many suppliers of 1 meter long lengths with various platings and steel grades.

Jim, as far as for the third kit, I would only buy the studs from that kit.
I have found locally through a company called Fastenal, same spec threaded rod in stainless steel and un-coated black steel. Your sugesstions on either metal as to:
workability in cutting the screwdriver slot for initial rod setting into the tractor body. Perhaps another way to set the rods?
electrolysis-stainless steel into steel/iron
un-coated steel surface oxidation

Personally, I would go with the black steel. I prefer to jam two nuts together on the stud to use to drive it in.

Jerry, I looked for those studs as replacement parts and found the following:

Sit down and take a deep breath!

STUD
M8 x 175, Cl 8.8,
86530931
3 Needed for Job
$32.37 Ships in :3-5 business days

STUD
M8 x 235, Cl 8.8,
86532717
1 Needed for Job
$37.83 Ships in :3-5 business days

Can you believe those prices? Holy cow!:shocked::shocked:

I don't know what hardness the black metal is, but the studs are 8.8 as shown above. I'm thinking I might buy some long M8/8.8 bolts, cut the heads off, and then have threads cut on the unthreaded ends. If you use stainless, you'll probably have to use some anti-sieze compound. I don't think you'll have any problems with dissimilar metals with stainless, but if the black metal will do the job, it might be the best choice. All I know for sure is that I would NOT pay over $135 for four studs as replacement parts.

Jim, those prices are for a total of three pieces-$32.37 and a total of one piece-$37.83, a total of $70.20 even so,
In both cases, the threaded rod stock hardness is 8.8, both the same as the NH studs.
I can find the 175mm +- bolts on line but no soap on the 235mm bolts although I need 208mm minimum, 200mm is the max.

barbqranch, I was thinking practially the same as an alternative but planning on three 8mm nuts jammed up to do the initial threading. My overkill.
Thanks guys.

You aren't going to buy them, so it doesn't matter, but that is the EACH price. Why would they charge only $32.37 for three studs and $37.83 for a single stud only a little longer? I've looked the part number up on several dealer's sites and that is the single price, and it's ridiculously high.

GOOD NEWS! I spoke with Mike at Partspring (one of our advertizers) where I made the original purchase and he was more than willing to swap out the four short second remote studs and send me four longer studs from a third set of remotes. Some shipping costs and pay a price difference of less that $30 and I'm back on track!
I'm predicting the new longer studs will be 1-1/4" too long (Jim's stack is 5-3/4" and mine will measure out 4-1/2") so should I cut them down a bit, add a four holed spacer/protection plate, just leave them be, or?
