After working with my tc35d today I found a pretty bad oil leak in, I think, the tranny cooler (the smaller radiator in front of the engine radiator). My question is about how much do these cost and is there any way to fabricate a semi flexable mounting system for this cooler. I also couldn't find a part number for this cooler in my manual.

Thanks

Click Here for the information at Messicks. Make sure it's the exchanger and not a line. Looks like there are different parts based on your serial number.

Thanks Mike, Yeah It's definately the exchanger. Its leaking in the fins and the fan is sucking it through the radiator and blowing it all over the engine... nice mess to clean up, before all that oil attracts dust and dirt.

thanks again

Class III Boomers before serial number #G601817 had a problem with the hose bib on the top of the cooler fracturing at the braze point. The replacement coolers have a thick washer added to the radiator to give a stronger brazing point.

Thanks for the input DocHeb, I went out to check my S/N and sure enough its one of those, checked the hose bib and found the crack, So the next step is to see if it can be brazed again as the replacement is $260+.

This forum has saved me so much trouble... THANKS

Then it's more than just the exchanger leaking?

I had remembered a long thread that talked about this problem:

hydro cooler failure TC40D

from PineRidge. This thread has Mike's typical excellent photo documentation and I suspect this is the problem that tmain is having. I remember it so well because I had to replace mine at 148 hours, and it was ~$200 at the time (2006). This thread also includes Jinman's remarks that the cooler is aluminum and might be a difficult re-weld.

Messicks is a great place to get parts from and also Partz network. Both can be found on the web. I would take out the cooler and take it to a local radiator shop, if you can find one, and see if they can make a repair. If it is a aluminum one, maybe even a welding shop that specializes in aluminum. Jut hard to clean it out real good to get a decent weld...Just some thoughts...

A good radiator shop may even be able to build one from scratch that will work.

Thanks again DocHeb, the photos were perfect, that is exactly where my oil cooler is leaking. I have it at a shop right now to see if they can fix it, or ruin it, either way i'll probably be ordering a new one from messicks as they are $40 cheeper than my local New Holland dealer.
