Hello All,
while not stuck, the spring doesn't seem to be pulling the cable bach to the stop there under the hood.
I've hit the whole spring/bell crank/end of cable with lube. I can pull the cable to the stop by hand and the rpm drops to the ~700rmp idle range.

I'm thinking i probably need to get under the dashboad and hit the upper end of the cable with lube so that gravity will let the whole cable lube up.

Has anyone had to replace the spring? Looks simple enough to do that if that's the real cause.

Here's my latest project. Well not that i worked on.

Gary, I'd take the injector end throttle cable loose and manipulate the lever by hand to see if the rack returns with no cable attached. If it does, then I'd lube the top of the cable down as you suggested. If it does not return with the cable off, then you have to figure out why. You need to be somewhat careful because too much/too little tension will interfere with the operation of the governor. I'd bet your cable is just becoming stiff or may even be kinked under the instrument panel cowling.

ok today I took the blue cowling off and got to the whole length of the throttle cable and there were no signs of kinks or overly bended places.
but one thing I noticed was that the black cable sleeve was not attached at the ends where the black outside of the cable was held to the throttle lever.
I could not tell this but it looked at one time the back cable sleeve was attached like a hydraulic hose is crimped at the fitting.
Not any longer. and I think what has happened is that the length of the black outer sleeve has broke out of the fittings and thus added 1/8"+- to the length of the black sleeve of the cable causing the cable to become just a little bit shorter thus preventing the cable from fully going to the idle stop and thus sticking at the 1500rpm.

I don't see anyway to adjust the length of the cable run shorter or longer.
My solution, i'm thinking is to somehow cut 1/8" of the outer black sleeve off with out cutting into the cable itself.

How much would just replacing the cable set you back, compared with a salvage job? Are they available?
