So I am changing my hydro fluid and filters and have a question on capacities. My manual and what Ive read online says it takes either 9.3 or 9.5 gallons for the shared reservoir. I could only fine one fill spot and the manual indicates its for both systems as they share the reservoir. I filled it with 9 gallons and checked the level and it is way high. So I fired the tractor up and let it idle for awhile to let it pump fluid through the filters and shut down and let it sit. Checked the level and still way too high.

I started to pump the old fluid back into one empty 5 gallon container I can see I did not get any where near 9-10 gallons out of the tractor. I did open both drain ports and oil came out of both.

Can anyone tell me what this tractor REALLY takes or if I did not drain it properly?

Second item is the front axle, its leaking so I know what I got out is not correct, maybe 2 quarts. Book says 6 quarts. I put 4 quarts in and checked the level and it also is over full, I'm wondering if it needs to drain down into the final drives so drove it a bit and parked it and will check again.

Question - do you check the front axle with the plug not screwed in or do you screw it all the way in and then pull out to check the level?

Second question - Can anyone tell me what the real capacity is for the front axle on this beast?

Thank You

Bump, anyone?

My manual for the TC35DA shows 9.6 gallons and there is only one place to fill. There are 2 drain plugs, one for the transmission and one for the rear axle. Did you drain both?

Sometimes I think some of the hydraulic fluid stays in the cylinders of my fel. I use 8.6 gallons in my gear (8.8 hydrostatic) TC30. But I have also over filled it and found myself pumping it out with a suction pump. You can also remove roughly a quart at a time by unscrewing the hydraulic filter, dumping it and screwing it back on! Very messy I'd think.
I only have one drain plug - back towards the rear. The manual says there are 3 but I don't see them. I alway screw the dipstick all the way in to check and look to have the level between the two marks (closer to the top but not higher.)

When I do the front axle I check the dipstick and add it there.

Also the final reduction gear case has its own filler plug (one on each side /per wheel). I remove the bottom plug below it to drain it. Put it back on and then take out the filler plug for that side and fill to the bottom of the hole. (funnel time). Mine takes .85 qts/side. Filler plug goes back in.

-I don't think the dipstick can check this level. I suspect that the 9.3 gallons of multi g 134 that I use covers it all, front and rear - not just the rear. It also goes into my steering.

- You have a different model tractor, but might have some things in common. Mine is the 2003 Shibaura made NH TC30.

Good luck.
