Fooling around with the cowling today I noticed that the headlight switch , actually it 's the all the lights switch can be pushed in like a momentary. It does not seem to do anything in any of the positions.
Any body know if this has a function? like high beams no, or horn have no horn
BTW the schematic shows 2 empty wire positions in the connector for this switch. Next time I have the cowl off I will stick a couple of probes in there and see what happens when I push. I bet NO and closed on push. Have to think of something to use that for.

I had a problem with my 1700 light switch. It quit working. The switch has 2 positions , half out is low beams, full out is high beams. when pulled out to either position the flashers will work when the flasher knob is turned on. Pushing in the light switch turns off the lights and the flashers.

My problem: there is a fuse box, it's on the dash on mine under a cover plate with 2 screws. The lights are fused there, check for blown fuse. However my fuse was good so I looked closer. The fuse block had a broken clip on one end of the light fuse holder. It would work if I held the fuse tight aginst the good 1/2 of the clip. Instead of ordering a new fuse block, I got some small copper wire and ran a loop arount the fuse to hold it tight enough to maintain contact and now the lights and flashers are working.:thumbsup:

As I remember the ign key has to be in the on position for the lights to work.
