I've just ordered a TC33DA hydro. I sold my old 1510 Ford that I had a Woods 7500 backhoe mounted to. I called woods today and found that they do not make a subframe for the TC33DA with the 14LA loader. The NH dealer says the 33D and 33DA are the same as far as the 'frame' of the tractor and the only changes were to the sheet metal (ok, so it's plastic, but you know what I mean...). The Woods tech support people tell me that the tractors are different and the TC33D subframe won't fit on the 33DA. Who's right? I have difficulty beleiving Woods, since they also told me they haven't seen a DA yet and that's why they don't have a sub frame for it. But, I don't want to spend the $600+ to buy the TC33D subframe and find it doesn't fit. I also don't feel like fabricating something that might void my warranty on either machine, especially in this beautiful 25 degree weather we've been having. Does anyone have any insight on this problem?
Thanks for you help.

My NH dealer is also the Woods dealer. If that's your case also, why not have the dealer get the subframe, install it and make sure he will warranty it?

I'd believe Woods on this one. They are in the business of building and selling attachments. What reason would they have to tell you something incorrect? There have been many posts about the changes in the Class II Boomers to allow the 14LA loader to be attached. If you don't have one of the new "DA" models, you cannot mount the 14LA loader. Does that sound like the same tractor frame? One of the dealers here can speak more specifically to the changes, but I think you can be assured that Woods will work on this issue and get the proper sub-frame in a reasonable amount of time. Since they compete with New Holland for attachments, I'm sure NH is not in any hurry to supply them with a tractor or specs so they can build the proper sub-frame.

As a matter of fact, one of the dealers on these forums has stated that New Holland will void the warranty on tractors without New Holland attachments. Have you asked your dealer about that? Is the warranty going to be provided by Woods? If something happens to your tractor, are you gonna have to "cough-up" the bucks to fix it because you put the Woods backhoe on it?

I think you have more issues than just the sub-frame and for now I'd take Wood's word about suitability. In the meantime, I'd want to see the fine print on my warranty to be sure I wasn't taking a big risk.

Good luck with your purchase. I'm sure you will enjoy that new tractor once you get all these "bugs" worked out. /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

If I were in your shoes, I'd hold on to that backhoe for a while. Woods came out with a "4 point hitch" subframe for their backhoes. It's out now for some Kubota CUTs, hopefully it'll be out soon for the NH stuff. It's a great design: quick disconnect, subframe stays on tractor, but you do not lose the ground clearance that you did with their older design.

I have a TC33D with a Woods 1012 loader. I picked up a used Woods 7500 backhoe this past fall. I'm hoping when they come out with the subframe for the DA series (one engineer at woods said they were planning on this, but it was on a back burner as of last fall), that it will also fit my -D.

BTW... wheelbase on the TC33D and TC33DA are the same, but the DA front axle is bigger (according to my dealer).

I've been talking to my NH dealer about a Woods backhoe, and he told me that NH indeed doesn't warranty another manufacturers backhoe, but that Woods and others had to start warranteeing if they wanted to keep selling backhoes. We were talking about backhoes, I didn't realized it applied to other attachments also. Didn't matter to me anyways, I bought a used tractor.

Unfortunately, my NH dealer does not sell Woods equipment. When I talked to Woods tech service people, they did mention the 4-point hookup. Can someone explain this to me or does anybody have pictures of how this works?

I looked at the New Holland/Rhino backhoe at the dealer today, and like the mount that they use. Looks easier to hook up than what I have now. I do like the Woods 7500 machine, I've used it to dig out tree stumps as big as my tractor.. see the attachment, but have thought about selling or trading the Woods for the NH/Rhino. Does anyone know how they compare? They look very similar to me, but looks don't tell you much.

Unfortunately, no pictures. But i did see one on a Kubota CUT a while ago (my NH dealer also sells Kubota, and is one of the larger Woods dealers in the area). I'm going from memory, and it's been a while so this may not be entirely accurate...

The subframe mounts a bit differently than their old design. It bolts around the rear axle, as I recall (it has a big donut hole, which must have been in two pieces to get it around?). It extends forward and attaches to where the loader frame attaches (in fact, I think he said it replaces one of the parts on the loader mount). The shape is such that it doesn't hang down much at all below the frame of the tractor (this is a big drawback on many backhoe subframes). This part extends to the rear and has two hooks (similar to what is on most quick attatch systems). These catch the lower two pins on the backhoe. There are two more hooks or "saddles" which bolt on higher up and out to the side (near the rear wheel fenders... I'm not sure what they attatch to). These grab the upper two pins on the backhoe. I did not see them hook one up, but it was described as similar to what it takes to hook up an implement to a 3-pt hitch with a quick-attatch system, with the added steps of hookin gup backhoe hydraulics (either tractor or PTO) and flipping two lock levers to lock the backhoe pins into the 4 point hitch saddles.

When removed from the tractor, the backhoe looks almost like a 3 point hitch model (no subframe attatched, since it stays on the tractor full time).

Hope this helped a bit.

Problem solved, I traded the Woods for a New Holland 758C and got an extra foot in the process!
