The 35d is about right the 33d is a little high.

Last December I got my TC33D, R4's, 7308 FEL, 60" heavy duty bucket, rear worklight & bracket for $16816 plus tax. The dealer also gave me a new 5' Sunflower brand rear blade which I quickly exchanged for a 6' Bush Hog 35-06 rear blade for a additional cost of $386. I think there are some incentives now so you should be able to do a little better on the 33D.

How do you like the 33D? I have a size 14 boot and found it very tight to get my foot on the pedal. It will fit but rub and eventually wear the paint off there, I know it's not that big of a deal but I hate the idea of knowing what will happen.
My brother has the 35D and tells me the 33D will be more than enough, what are your thougths and applications?

I have 25 acres rolling pasture, creek, trees etc.. where were building the house. The path is clear to the house and any intial excavating will be done by the contractor.
I will need to move snow, do driveway work and general "projects" brought on by the tractor.

I will be living in Central Illinois, outside of Peoria.

Well I wear a size 9 so I can't comment on that. I do love the 33D but I only have 6 acres. If I could have afforded/justified the 35D or 40D at the time I would have done it. Now, in hindsight, I am glad I got the 33D because it has done the most demanding jobs already and I would hate to try and fit anything longer/larger through our 6 acres of woods. The only thing I wish for was a higher lift/breakout capacity.

If you can afford it, and your acreage will allow for a larger tractor then I would get the larger one. I hear that the jump from the 35D to the 40D isn't that much money and you get the nicer 4 cylinder engine.

D-Y, I'd think seriously about the larger 35D tractor if the extra money is not the limiting factor. With 26 acres, you will find plenty to do with the larger tractor as you become more used to using it. If I was considering the TC33D, I'd also seriously consider the TC30 because it has most of the features of the 33D, except the higher price. But if you want to buy a tractor to fit your shoe size, I think you will have to go with the class III Boomer. /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif My TC45D is a great little tractor, but many times I wish it were larger & more powerful. However, I wish it were smaller sometimes when I'm following a tight path through my woods. I even have a small 5' rotary cutter so I can get it between most trees. If you plan to do finish mowing, I think the class III boomer is really too large for that. No matter what you buy, sometimes you will wish you had something else. /w3tcompact/icons/crazy.gif

Guys thanks for all the input.
I plan on doing a lot of finish mowing, the knoll where were building the house is about 8 acres and probably another 10 could be finished mowed but I'm thinking of planting some Illinois Prairie grass in that area.
I'm serious about my foot fitting , I've looked at changing the pedal configuration to the 35D style and the dealer tells me it can be done, of course I know he'll tell me about anything to get me to buy it. I will investigate that further.
Why do not recommend the 35D and up for finish mowing? Is it purely manuverability or something else?
I still have our riding mower that is meant for an acre or less, so I figured I can mow the close quarters with that.
I just know if whatever I buy I'm going to think I should have the other!!

I'm finish mowing about 6 acres w/ my TC 40D and my wife does right around the house with a riding mower. The only way to tell what I did vs what she did is the tire tracks. The next morning, the tracks are gone and I honestly can't tell a difference. Next spring I plan to buy a 7' finish mower and I'll probably start doing it all with my TC 40D. With SuperSteer, I can get as close to stuff as I need to, no scruffing of the grass either.

I think the main reason people discourage the Class III Boomers for mowing is weight. But I guess that depends on your soil. I do try to mow in different patterns though.

I originally started out looking at the 33D, but I really liked the foot pedals of the 35D. The loader specs didn't hurt either. I test drove a 35D and 40D side by side and decided the 4cyl engine was worth the difference. Maybe larger than I need but wouldn't trade it for anything. Except maybe a 45D /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

Another note, the 35D does have a mid pto available but the 40D does not (I believe). So if you are going to want a mid mount mower don't consider the 40D.

The 40D does have mid-PTO available, the 45 doesn't.
