New Holland TC30
I have an '06 New Holland TC30 that I bought new when I retired. Within about three months after purchase the dealer closed down overnight. It has been a real joy for the little I need and now has about 100 hours on it. My son-in-law came over to help move some dirt around and when he left it would not go into any gear. It just grinds. I've moved four times since I bought it and now I can't find the owner's manual. Is there anything that could have come loose that I can reattach or an adjustment that would put it right? The closest dealer for repairs is about 50 miles away. I've had them service it before but they charge $90 each way. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming it's a gear tractor, not hydrostatic.

Does the clutch pedal feel right? Depresses easily for about 1" then more resistance?

Check the clutch linkage under the platform. Nothing bent or jammed up with something? The threaded rods in the linkage is where the clutch is adjusted.

Are you in neutral or completely engaged in one range gear or another?

I have a TC -29 and when I first bought it I had the same thing happen....I bet you have a stuck clutch like I had...Be very careful...when it happened to me I did not know what was wrong...I called the NH dealer and explained it to their service manager...he said he would have to split the tractor and it would cost around $2,200.00 - I literally hung up...I called a friend of mine and he came and got the tractor and brought it back the next day...charged me $100.00 just to cover the transport...it was a stuck clutch...Do a search on this site for " Stuck Clutch " or send a PM to Soundguy( Chris) or Jinman (Jim) and they will explain several fairly easy ways to unstick your clutch....When it is fixed always use a piece of wood , rock or something to block your clutch down to keep the moisture out...they can't just sit with the clutch pedal out...I hope this helps.

One more thing...you should copy and paste your post into this forum...it is for New Holland and you will get a better response.

Thank you so much for your response. As I said in the post, the closest dealer charges $180 trip charge just to come look at it. I also checked out the Ford forum site you suggested and it looks like exactly what I need. It's very informative and I will post all future questions there. Who knows, I might even be able to help someone else. You have been very kind and helpful. I appreciate your input.

The clutch petal does not feel right. There is no resistance at all. I'm in neutral. I checked the linkage and all is clear and nothing is bent. Following your response brin suggested using a chock to block the clutch down. I wasn't aware of this and I haven't done it in the seven years I've owned it. It only has about 100 hours so that may be an issue to consider.

you can also put the trans in hi gear, with the block on the clutch pedal and rock it slowy, just a bit back and forth to see if it will release...just an option for you
