Mowing TC30 PTO drops out when hot

The PTO on my TC30 drops out after mowing a 20ft distance with a 72 inch 3pt finish mower. The gear box is usually hot when this happens but it does not always happen with the 5ft bush hog. Any theories?

yours is not the first one with this issue. It often requires replacing the two gears(one sliding, one driven) involved in the PTO engagement.

Well it is nice to know that mine isn't the first, but I just learned today from my repair shop what was going on and the final bill is going to hurt.

What hyd fluid are you using? I just learned that you have to use the right fluid the hard way, I have a 93 1715 which is basically the same tractor as your tc30. see my posts under thread called "ford 1715 pto clutch adjustment --- help". I think your tc30 should already have the updated parts.
