TC30 4x4 HST w loader. Another brand that is close?

Hi,

I'm looking at a TC30 4x4 Hydrostat with R4's and a Bush Hog 1846QT loader for $15,000. Are there any other tractors with packages that are similar in HP and price? I'm having a hard time finding something that will compare. I looked at a Mahindra 2615 HST that was similar in price, but 4 HP less. I really want to stay at or under $15,000. I guess my brands are limited to Massey, NH, Deere, Mahindra, Kubota - These are the only dealers that are within reasonable driving distance. Maybe Kioti, but it is pushing it with an hour drive to a dealer. So, do you guys have any suggestions for something in the 28-30 hp range, 4x4 with HST and loader for $15,000?

I think you'll find the Kubota L2800 HST in the same price range with loader.

Check out the Massey 1528/1531. I have a 1531 and the price was a bit higher, but I'm in the NorthEast where that seems to be the norm.

JD 790 package with be under your target budget. Proven bulletproof technology. You see very few complaints about JD equipment on TBN. You will be shifting though, no HST on the 790.

You can probably hit your budget with a boxscraper and I-match thown in.

That $15K quote is exactlly what one of my buddies paided, over 4 years ago for his Hydro TC30. He also got the NH 7308 loader I believe, and a rear box blade, can't remember the brand, but do remember it is a very heavy duty unit. The quote you have received is outstanding , taking into account the price of steel now, and inflation has heated up a bit from 4 years ago. The NH is a bit more refined than the basic economy Deere 790. Another buddy has a new JD 790, and it's a fine tractor, but not hydro. Good luck with your decision.

TC30's have gotten quite a bit more expensive over the last 2-3 years. Kubota's B7800 (hydro) and L2800 (hydro or gear) are both very close.

That looks like a good price to me. I was quoted 14,400 for the same thing 3 years ago. also $13400 for the 9x3 gear, loaded R4's, bush hog 1846qt loader.
I bought a TC30, 9x3 gear, loaded R4's, with the new holland 7308 loader, in 2003 for $14050, $650 more than the bush hog 1846
I stepped up to the 7308 based on loader specs. and I don't regret it,
I assume bush hog makes a good loader, but the 1846 is the lightest duty one they make.
now I have 340 plus hours on mine without any problems at all , I'm throughly very pleased with it.

My father-in-law had a tc30, it was a good tractor for him.

The only problem he had was that tall grass would wrap around the front drive shaft and get into the seal in the front of the transmission and ruined that seal.

The seal was only a couple dollars, and replacing it only took a half hour or so..but the tractor was down for the time it took to get a new seal in, I think it was a few days.

If it were mine I would fabricate a shield for that shaft and seal to prevent that....there are some threaded holes there like one could be an option, but I didn't see one mentioned in the owners manual.

Now on my Kubota L2350 I had, the front drive shaft was totally enclosed so there wasn't any way for seals to get grass wrapped in them and ruined....

I think a Kubota L series would be a good match for that TC 30 size wise, not sure on pricing.
