Up until July of this year my dealer has been performing all of my filter/fluid changes (it was part of the purchase agreement while the tractor was under warranty). I am getting close to the 300 hr service and am confused about which filters I need. I went into the dealer and asked for all filters that are required for this tractor. I received 2 different fairly large hydro filters, one small oil filter, outer air filter, and a fuel filter.

Where do the large filters go? I see one on the right side near the front of the rear tire. Where does the other one go? What about the engine oil filter(s)? I have a smaller one on the right side and a slightly larger one on the left? The one that I received looks like it goes on the right.

I know I can get all of this info from the owners manual, but I am at work right now and have a chance to leave early. I am thinking that I will run to the dealer on the way home and see if they can figure out what I have and what I need. Just thought it would be helpful to have some ammunition from all of the knowledgeable people here.

Thanks

What you have is:
One large hydro filter - goes under rear-side of tractor - you'll have to lay on floor and look up in front of rear axle area.
Other large hydro filter - have no idea. There's only one large filter needed as the other hydro filter and oil filter are smaller. See below.
One small hydro filter - goes along side of tractor near side of engine. This is the filter for the hydrostatic-drive system.
Small Oil Filter - should be obvious - side of engine, but it may be different in size to the one originally furnished by NH. For this one, I'd eventually recommend a cross reference to a Wix or Purolator.
Fuel Filter - I'd save this one for future use unless you see plenty of evidence in the fuel-filter-bowl that you've got buildup or lots of sediment.
Outer Air - Be careful with the old one when you remove it as it can be cleaned and reused. Also, if you go that route, be careful with the cleaning - gently wash in strong detergent and hot water, but don't use compressed air unless its dry.

congrats, you are about to perform the first major service,at 300 hours you will need to change the hydro oil,i suggest you prepare to contain a large amount of fluid.i performed all of my maintenence from the git go,however i left the 300 hour service up to the dealer because of the amount of fluid that would need to be disposed of.the large filter is the one at the r.r. axle housing, take you're grease gun with you as there are numerous fittings underneath that need attention, the hydro drive filter is located near the engine on the left side.both of those filters normally are orange in color, there are two different oil filters used for that engine.one is white, one is black, look to see which one you have before purchasing.refer to you're owners manual for the location of all the grease fittings.that manual is very well written and easy to understand and pretty straight forward.
good luck /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

The large hydro filter (right rear) I used the first 2 times I replaced them were orange. The one I put on a few weeks ago (when I did the 300 hr service) was black, like the other 2 oil filters.
