TC29d
I have a 2001 New Holland TC29D with a 7308 Front End Loader. I believe he lift limit per the manual is 850 LBS.
Is this limit set or adjustable. I'd like to be able to lift heavier items on occasion. I realize I will have to have additional
weight on the rear. Hope to lift up to 1200 lbs.

There are two issues here...

1) The front axle is not designed to take much more here. You will be pushing its limit lifting 1,200 pounds. The next model revision of this tractor has a beefier front axle.

2) The hydraulic relief valve near the base of the control stick will limit what you can lift. It is adjustable. There was a issue a while back of some tractors leaving the factory with the valve set too low. To test it properly you need a pressure gauge with a T and quick connects so you can add it inline. Your dealer should be able to check to make sure it's in spec. and possibly make sure it's at the high end of the acceptable range. Of course, you can tweak it up a bit without a gauge, but you risk doing some serious damage if you go to far.

Just make sure the relieve valve is set correctly. But going from 850 to 1200 is probably asking for trouble in my opinion. When my TC33da was delivered, I was very disappointed in the loader performance. I called the dealer and he came out and set it to spec, and it was much better. But I would think real hard about going from 850 to 1200. Things are engineered to a performance point for a reason.

I concur with the others. Expecting to lift almost 50% more is asking for trouble.

Years ago a TBNer built the gauge and hoses and a bunch of us benefited. He created a list of people who were interested, and it was mailed from person to person to check and adjust the pressure. As I recall, this generosity was repaid when someone in the middle of the list failed to forward it.

Engineers design loaders and stuff to specifications. While they might design things not to break at 1 pound over capacity, you're considering going beyond whatever limits by a good margin. Seems likely to me that something will let go; if you're lucky it might just be a hose, but stressing parts that much beyond their engineered capacity could get expensive and/or dangerous.

Get yourself a 3-400lb counterweight, and see what it can do for ya. Definitely don't turn it up past the factory recommended setting. You could end up with a cracked frame, busted axle, failed hydro line, or a tip over due to the failure. That would be a bad day! I wish I had more tractor too... I know how ya feel.

with others. keep within manufacture specs. and do not go over. or ya asking for trouble!

many times max lift is measured at the "pins" of were the bucket or forks connect. if you can remove what you have on the FEL and build a lite weight setup to go between the pins, you may gain some extra lifting weight. and still keep within specs.
