Tractor
2006 New Holland TC33DA with SS, R4 loaded tires, 2 rear remotes, arms rests, & rear light
This is my first post so I wanted to say "hello" to everyone. I have been shopping for my first compact tractor for several months and have read many posts on Tractor By Net. I have looked at Deere 4110 HST, Kubota B2410, and New Holland TC24DA.

I am strongly leaning toward the TC24DA for several reasons: design, features, price, financing, dealer, etc. I am going to my local dealer tomorrow morning for a second look (test drive) and might "bite the bullet".

Is there anything about the TC24DA I need to know prior to my investment?

Thanks in advance for any input.

It's a great tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Welcome to tbn. What do you plan to use the machine for?

Thanks for the welcome,

I have 3 acres (1 mowed and 2 overgrown woods). I will use tractor to mow, maintain my 200' gravel drive, brush hog, minor landscaping, push snow, and any other excuse I can find to operate the machine. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

I am looking to get the FEL and 60" MMM at time of purchase. I am also planning to get turf tires instead of R-4's.

Compact1,
Wednesday I took delivery of my new TC24DA, FEL, Backhoe, RFM. I traded in a Kubota B1550 which was only 17HP. I have almost 7 acres, 4 is finish mowed, and the rest is woods with minimal brush hogging. I too have a 300+' limestone drive uphill that is maintained (snow, grading, etc.) Having built a house several years ago, I still have some landscaping to do, so I'm sure the FEL/BH will come in handy (mulch, topsoil, drainage, etc). I went with a RFM because I also bought the NH backhoe. The subframe for the BH will not easily work with the MMM. I personally liked the Woods RD6000 RFM, it was also $300.00 cheaper than a MMM anyways. You'll like the R4's much better than the turfs for what you'll be doing, my rears are loaded b/c of the FEL. My inlaws have a NH and were very happy with the local dealer. Between the dealer and 0%/48 (which ends this month), as well as the features, the choice was clear as to what to buy. I was not impressed with the new Kubotas....not much improvement from problems that the old ones had. My neighbor bought a new B-something and hates it, and I didn't even look at JD! I have not had a chance to do much with the tractor yet besides grade the drive.....so much better than the old orange all ready! Go for it...I'm positive that you won't be diasppointed. This is a great place for information, welcome!

JSchaumleffel,

Thanks for the input. I'd like to see pictures whenever you get the opportunity.

I think the TC24DA will suit your needs nicely. I run my TC18 on ~4 acres - 1 acre lawn, rest woods & wetlands. I also think turfs are a good choice for your application.

Make sure you get a ballast box or other heavy rear implement to offset the weight of the FEL. You may want to load the tires as well... The 12LA is a powerful loader for a small compact.

I have the TC24D and love it. It is an amazing combination of size and power. The DA version is improved in a few small ways over the D version. From the mechanical standpoint I believe they are identcial, but the improvements included repositioning of the headlamp control, key switch, slight changes to the dash area, and changes to the headlamps. There may have been a 12volt outlet added under the seat too? All the changes are good (several of us have complained in the past that when snowblowing in reverse, our left knee turns off the headlamps, etc).

As far as the tractor goes, I've not seen anyone who doesn't love theirs. The loader is amazingly powerful for such a small tractor and the view to the ground is excellent. View comparison between the TC24 and the B2910 over the loader arms. By the way, turf tires are nice, but they are soft sided tires and you won't get full use out of the FEL with turf tires (that may or may not be a problem for you depending on how hard you plan on pushing the limits of the FEL). I use R4s and mow with mine, but I can not mow in 4wd or I tear up the lawn. Ballast is essential for FEL work because the FEL is so strong it can easily cause the rear of the tractor to lift off the ground.

There was a guy in California who had major problems with his TC24D but NH ended up giving him a new one. He hasn't posed on TBN in a while, but even with his problems, he still liked the tractor.

I don't know, Bob. I have the turfs on mine and have maxed out the loader with heaping loads of crusher run that it could barely lift, and haven't had any trouble with the sidewalls giving way. I do run them at max pressure for loader work. Traction in the mud, another story. But I wouldn't trade them since I like the floatation and traction in the sand on the beach and soft lawn.

You will be amazed at how may uses you will find! As others have said, great machine in a small package with plenty of power. Completely agree with the ballast recommendation, in fact Bob and Hazmat both recommended it to me when I got mine about 1 1/2 years ago. I tried to get away without loading the tires for fear of sinking in my soft lawn with the extra weight. In reality, the machine left deeper marks in the lawn without the ballast due to the weight of the FEL on the smaller front tires. Loading them balanced it out much better and made it much safer.

Talk to your dealer about your property and intended uses, he will steer you in the right direction for tire selection.

Good luck in "biting the bullet" and hope you join the club /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif

I drove my NH TC24DA home today. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif This is my first tractor. I have worked at a rental yard for 20 years now and worked with Kubota daily. I bought a NH. I will be buying a tiller and ph auger very soon. Thanks to all for the information.
I found a snowblower from a guy who is going bobcat on us. He rebuilt everything in it including painting it. He will take $600.00 Sounds like a good deal to me. Snow is melting but here in Alaska i am pretty sure there will be more next year.
Based on my limited knowledge of the tc24da i can only say it FEELS much better than any Kubota i have used. Kubota is a good machine. I just like my NH. Anyone looking for a tractor now is the time. O% money is FREE, do the math.
I dont know how to post pictures but would really like to know.

Use a phote editing program to knock the file down to 100kb or less. I usually set it 640x480 in jpeg format. Start a message or reply, when you hit the continue button make sure the "I want to preview my post and/or attach a file" box is checked. The next screen there will a line "You may attach a file if you like (no bigger than 100000 bytes please)." above the "Post this Message" button that allows you to enter the file name or browse for the image file. Place it in the box, hit the Post this Message button, and bingo, you posted a photo.

Lets see that tractor!
