Purchased my 2002 4x4 with power steering back in June. Used it around 10 hours and noticed the front right wheel casing covered in oil. Upon closer inspection there is a hairline crack down the outside causing the leak.

Called around and obtained a final case off a 1220. It came with top seal and bearing located under the seal so i left those in and reused the rest of my parts.

After using it for a few hours I noticed a very small leak and figured it was a bad seal at the top. I constantly monitored the oil levels to make sure it still had oil when using. Got around to replacing the seal today and discovered the casing to have broken on the inside

I am now in search of another casing but I am worried something else is causing the problem. Any ideas?

Were they both cracked at the same place? Is it used in loader applications?

The first one had a hairline crack along the outside. The second one is broken on the inside.

A loader is used and I have been using it to lift logs and rock. Nothing over the loader capacity which is near 700lbs. I also have a tooth bar on the front and have used the loader to remove dirt from an area that has some rock and roots from trees.

It doesn't take much log or rock to make 700 pounds. And that rating is usually at the pins, not at the tip of the bucket or any extensions. It also assumes the tractor is not moving which also adds to stresses. My guess would be the tractor is over loaded no matter what the FEL may be rated.

That part isn't a hot or even occasional seller at my parts counter. You buy a 20 year old used part, anything is possible.

Thanks for all the advice. I purchased a piranha toothbar and used the fell to remove quite a bit of dirt and rock. Probably over did it. Found a used part for $300. Will be sure to take it easy on it this time.

I noticed the the vertical shaft that comes down part # SBA322511091 does have slight movement to it when I pull on it back forth. I do not see a bearing on the parts list. In addition to taking care as to how much weight and work I do with the bucket, should I look into other parts that may need to be replaced that could be causing these casings to crack? The LH side does not leak but I plan on removing it tonight to make sure everything inside looks good.
