Oil & Fuel TC series oil filter choices

I changed the oil on my TC55 and ended up using the fleet brand diesel 15w-40 I had purchased for the Ford 7600 which does meet current diesel specs. I'll probably replace my stock with Motorcraft 15W40 or Cheveron 15W40 as I don't have enough spare oil for any more complete changes. The filter the dealer sold me ended up having a larger can than the smaller diameter New holland filter the previous owner had mounted, but the same thread and seal size as the one that came off the tractor. It looks like it's the same size as a Fram PH43 and PH8A which is just a little longer than the 43. I was wondering what your choice of oil filter is for your TC series tractor and if the factory filter is really any better than the Fram Silver line of filters? The tractor oil was pretty dark and it would puff out a bit of black smoke on start up before the change. The tractor seemed to run much smoother with the oil/filter change and new air filter. I also don't believe it was belching any black smoke on start up. Now I'll have to plan on a hydraulic oil change. Hope it's not too difficult. I need to figure out what container would be best to drain that out because my oil pan only has about a 2 gallon capacity. We had purchased the tractor with about 305 hours and it now has 340 so I'm probably due for a little more maintenace. edge

edge - I have a TC -29 and do all my own service. I am listing a link to Messick's web site below and they give you step by step instructions for all your service...the link is showing for TC service up to TC - 45 so maybe there are some differences but you could ask them..they have on line help..By the way I went to Wal Mart and for about $5.00 I bought a plastic rectangular container, I think it is meant for storing clothes under a bed, but it was low enough to go under the tractor and I believe it held 20 gal so that is plenty of capacity for the used hydraulic fluid and it worked fine for me.
