I just found this TC maintenance guide while doing an unrelated search. It might be handy to print or save for future reference. Page 2 lists all the part numbers for filters and such plus in the lower right corner there is a guide to fluid quantities and service intervals. I think it answers lots of questions I've seen asked from time-to-time on this forum.

Thank you for this Maintenance Guide :D. Jay

There's a great deal of good info on those two pages. Unfortunately probably 80% of those filter part numbers have superceded at least once since the guide was printed. Anyone using the guide is better off knowing that than not.

You are right Rick. Normally I take a list of filters to my dealer and let him check the numbers of any I don't find on his self-service shelf. Most times, the number has changed and the new filter is in stock. Sometimes he is just out of my part number.

I always try to buy two or three engine oil filters at a time because you use three of those to one hydraulic or HST filter. By the time I get back to buy the 4th filter, normally NH has changed its part number. My dealer's parts man seems to like my bringing in a list instead of him having to look up all the numbers. One thing the brochure does show is the similar filters that are used on other TCs like the same engine oil filter on TC30, Class II Boomers, and Class III Boomers. The air filters are common for many Boomers too. I don't know that it's useful info, but it's great for "Tractor Trivial Persuit.":D

Good idea. Now that my local dealer is gone, I'm going to need to devote a Saturday morning to get to a dealer to stock up on what I might need for a year's worth of service. Thanks for posting this!

The Maintenance Guide (dated 6/03) lists SBA340500720 as the hydraulic filter for a TC30. It also lists SBA340500890 (hydro). "Hydro" would seem to indicate that it is for the HST. I have a gear tractor, so I assume I need the SBA340500720. Two weeks ago I went to a NH dealer to buy a "Hydraulic System Oil Filter", as it is called in the Operator's Manual. I was sold filter #SBA340500990. This filter is shorter than the one on the tractor, and looks like it may be for an HST. At the time I bought it, I told the parts guys that it looked too small, and asked them if was for an HST instead. They assured me it was the correct filter for the gear tractor's common sump system.

Can anyone tell me the latest part number for the filter I need?

Messicks.com is a great resource for the most current and accurate maintenance items. (Thanks Neil!) Here is a link to the page with your filters listed.

TC30D-DA filters

There is another filter listed, but I suspect it is for the HST since it is larger. Your filter at $21 would be a bargain for most of us.

SBA340500990 is the current part number for the hydrostatic charge pressure filter, as you suspect. SBA340500720 was the original part number for the main hydraulic suction filter on all TC30's be they hydrostastic or gear drive. That number was substituted to SBA340500930 and again to the current part number for the main hydraulic suction filter which is 87300043. Feel free to print this reply and hand it to your parts person.

Thanks, Rick.

The dealer that sold me the wrong part now tells me that the correct part is SBA340500930, and that 87300043 is HST specific. I'm pretty sure that you are right and they are wrong. The picture of 87300043 on the Messick site (Thanks, jinman) looks right.

SBA340500720, SBA340500930 and 87300043 are all perfectly acceptable to use as the hydraulic suction filter on any TC30. The next time your dealer orders SBA340500930 they will probably recieve 87300043 from New Holland.
