I just noticed a hairline crack on my 2006 TC45A drivers side rear fender with 70 hours. Maybe 1/2-3/4" long-by the ROPS bracket. The crack is probably not much thicker than a human hair but you can feel it with your fingernail. I'm always careful getting on and off the tractor.

I've noticed other people on TBN having this problem but theirs are way worse ie. coming part or separating and way larger.

I have 2 more months on my warranty. Is this something I should make NH and my dealer aware of? I also do not want to be laughed out of the dealership either.

At the same time I can see this crack getting bigger down the road (out of warranty of course) to where I need to repair or replace the fender. You know this problem is only going to get worse.

At the least I plan to make up a metal support bracket underneath the fender that ties in the fender grab handle to the ROPS somehow. Maybe I can sell them on ehay.

Make your dealer aware of the problem NOW while you are still in warranty. Photos, or whatever verification the service department needs to get them on board to get a replacement fender on your tractor. So far as I know, fenders are currently on backorder, so a replacement probably will not be readily available. But if you are on record as needing a fender within the warranty period, there should be no problem with a replacement when one is available.

I agree completely with RickB. Document this problem and work with your dealer. Be pleasant with your dealer, but firm in your position that this is a failure that should be covered under warranty. Nobody should laugh at you.

Sweep, check out my thread on my TWO cracked fenders. I posted pics of them and the new ones.

NH know's there's a problem and they replaced both of mine. On the new fenders they added a bracket under the fender to help with the flexing.

Flatheadyoungin, I know what you mean. I found myself putting my hand on the fenders when i got off the BH. I try really hard not to do that now that I have the new ones on. I thought about trying to make some kind of handle or hand rest attached to the ROPS so i don't use the fenders.

The sad thing is, they made these fenders without problems for several years. Then they got foolish and cheap, and here we are.

I had to pay for the bracket on my TZ18. My fender was just starting to crack. I am the second owner, and bought it with 50hrs on it. I emailed NH multiple times about the fender cracking. My request was for them to send me a bracket and I would install it myself. I never did get a response. With all the years my family has had Ford tractors, I was very disappointed.

i'd like to see a pic of that bracket......

this is another reason i don't want to mount a heavy toolbox to the fender.......like the factory one...
