hey guys, i got a tc40 that keeps blowing the safety system/fuel solenoid fuse. i have checked all the safety switches and looked over all the wiring pretty close and cannot find anything out of the ordinary. it blows the fuse as you turn the ignition switch to start. i have as feeling the problem lies in one of the relays. the tractor has not been run all winter and this was the first start of the new year. the battery voltage is fine. thanks for any help.

I smell a mousse munch issue !!!. I'll bet the wire has been stripped ( yummy ) and is shorting out against the frame.

Pull both shrouds off below the steering wheel and maybe you'll be lucky and see the spot. You can replace the fuse and maybe you'll see the spark !! A fire extinguisher might be handy to have nearby !!

Common problem. NH's fix is to replace the 7.5A fuse with a blade style 8 amp circuit breaker. We keep 'em on the service trucks along with the fuse assortment.

I forgot about that !!!!, I haven't had any trouble going on 3 years with mine. I've just got mice on my mind. I hate those little ......

I think we may employ a half-wild cat to live in the garage where we will be storing our TC35DA. Those miserable little creatures have ,in the past, completly stripped bare my entire wiring harness for a Curtis 2000 series snow plow. My Hodge stump grinder wouldn`t start (nearly new) upon removing all shrouds ,revealed stripped wires under the covers. In both cases I used a product called Liquid Tape. It dries and is good to go. We are afaid if we get cats they will get on the road and be hit. Maybe if we feed them well they will stick tight. Other than that maybe a mouse proof shed. They will still make it in while big doors are open when welding or moving equip in and out. The hawks ,coy dogs ,owls take their toll but they are at times ,lousey around here.

I run about 6-8 snap traps baited with peanut butter in my storage area year round. The mice come in waves...I'll go a few months with nothing, then a few.

As for cats....I'd rather have a mouse than a cat !!!! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

There's no such thing as a mice proof shed.. unless you get one of them roll off containers that is watertight.

We employ a couple barn cats to keep rodents outta the feed int he barn. The 2 cats hang pretty close to the barn.. and we have one of those drop feeders for dry food available fro when the mice/bird population is low. There are 2 roads within viewing distance of the barn... but I don't think I've seen either cat more than 50 yeards from the barn... Just too much 'good' stuff for a cat to do... good supply of mice, bugs and birds... regular cat food available 24/7 A big horse trough to dirnk out of ( they do fall in once in a while.. ). Hay, horse blankets, or tractor seats to sleep on. ( One cat laid up on my padded JD-B seat ALL yesterday, watching me work out on the farm... lazy thing...

I think the food/sleep/ protection form cold is about all a cat asks for.. give them that.. and don't beat them much.. and you should be good to go. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Ours even put up with being hauled to the vet once yearly for vacinations.. course.. they disappear for a couple days after that ordeal.. but have always come back...

Rodents (rats, mice, squirrels) hate hot pepper. Go to Sams or some other store and get yourself a big container of powdered cayenne pepper. Keep it in your barn and dust around the areas where rodents might try to come in or make nests. If you repeat this a few times per year, I think you'll see the mice will find another more friendly environment to live. You can even dust wire harnesses with the stuff, but if you ever get it on yourself and in your nose or eyes, you'll get to see first-hand why the mice hate it. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

For the mouse problem try a continuous mouse trap. Get a pail and put a pop can on a wire axel and smear it with peanut butter. Place a couple of inches of RV antifreeze in the bottom and some wood or bricks beside the pail so the critters can get up to the rim. They will go after the peanut butter and then go swimming. I've tried everything to deal with mice and this works well and for long periods of time. Keep pets away. Although the RV antifreeze is not toxic it probably isn't good to ingest the stuff.
