I would like feedback on the attachments I have priced for a TC 40 A with 16LA loader. I have 45 acres to bush hog and lots of honey suckle I want to rip out as well as trees (fallen and otherwise) than I want to haul to my dump site. I have an SQ 84 T bush hog in the package with a 12 inch offset as there are alot of branches hanging along the side of the the fields. I got a Brush brute 58" quick attach to uproot the brush and honey suckle. For the logs which I have to haul to the dump site and which probably will not fit in the bucket I thought a Bradco pallet fork would work best. I have therefore not put teeth on the loader which I would use for dirt work. Any feedback on my logic would be appreciated. In the future I might add plow for snow removal on the land to create trails and scraper for driveway maintenance but haven't included them in the initial package. Based on alot of the other feedback I think the 40 is the best tractor size. All thoughts, experience appreciated.

Peter, it sounds to me like you have thought out your primary needs pretty well. The Brush Brute should certainly do a good job on small diameter brushy trees and even the honeysuckle. With the honeysuckle, you may find that it breaks rather than pulls out, but that will surely depend on the type of soil and how large the honeysuckle branches are.

I think a toothbar for your loader is used quite differently from the Brush Bull. For digging, the toothbar will really help you loosen soil and it's also good at grubbing roots from below the soil level. The nice thing about a toothbar is it's easy to install and about the same price whether you buy it now or later. If you see you need it (and I think you will) you can add it later.

Are you getting remote hydraulic valves installed? I'd suggest getting at least two. When your dealer installs them at purchase time, you can save a few dollars over adding them later and they get installed under warranty too.

If you have 45 acres, you are going to be a busy guy for awhile. That sounds like a lot of clean-up you have planned. I would think that if your budget can handle it, you should also consider the TN series of tractors; at least give them a look-see. A tractor with 65 hp or more would certainly not be out of place on 45 acres.

Good luck with your purchase and your property. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

For almost any dirt work, you will want a toothbar. You might look into the Razoh(sp) toothbar that I think is now sold thru NH dealers. It is mainly used by loaders and is a real good addition to the bucket. I have one and since I haven't found a reason to take it off, had it welded on.

Peter,

I agree with jim that you might want to look into a bit bigger tractor, especially if you're getting an 84" brush hog. I have a 6' on my TC40 and it bogs down in real heavy brush (ie, I have to slow way down). I would go with the TC45 if you stay with that frame size. How much of that 45 are you going to brush hog? If it's the full 45, it will take you some time.
