I just bought a used 2003 TC35D hydro transmission, with 365 hours. The tractor is in great shape and I got a heck of a deal. There is only one problem, when I step on the break I get a chatter noise or a grinding type noise? Any idea what could be the cause with such low hours. The tractor has not seen any heavy use, the guy only used it to run a finishing mower on his 10 acre yard. Thanks!

That pretty much means you have brand new brakes that have hardly ever been used. The previous owner probably relied almost completely on the HST to slow the tractor. The brakes were probably only used for parking brakes. On these tractors, the brakes squawk and chatter until they get broken-in. Mine squawked when new and now are quiet. Also, according to New Holland, their Multi-G 134 hydraulic fluid reduces brake chatter on wet brakes. The previous owner may not have used that fluid or may have never changed the original fluid. It's hard to say. Whatever the circumstance, if the brakes work, just keep using them and they will get quieter. Mine no longer make noise at 1700 hours.

I had a feeling that the noise was either due to the newness or related to hydro use somehow.
I wanted to make sure I wasn't damaging anything by continuing to use the brakes.

This is turning out to be a better tractor with my implements than I thought. Thanks for all the help!
