The power steering filter/canister was due to be changed at 600 hours. The filter/canister is $75 at the local dealer. I checked with Messnicks and they want $86. Much cheaper then a new power steering pump, but is there a way to make an end run around that much money for a filter? New Holland parts prices often seem like a license to print money. I assume the other brands are also crazy expensive.
Thanks Christopher

I have 1700 hours on my TC45D and have NEVER changed the PS reservoir/filter. I'd bet that is pretty common. If you drain the fluid and put in new, you'll probably do more than most. Since the fluid is not in an engine and doesn't have much contamination, I'd bet it looks nice and clear when you drain it. I would not try to flush the filter either. Go with what you are comfortable with is my advice.

EDIT: Oh yes, on later models the PS reservoir/filter is completely eliminated. The PS pump draws fluid from the main hydraulic reservoir.

Thanks. I will give that a shot and see what the fluid looks like. I was just trying to spoil the tractor.
