TC 35 Restores small horse pasture

my neighbor has asked me to restore her pasture 2.5 acres to a standard suitable for grazing two horses. Weeds and buttercups are high. Field was disced a couple of years ago so its clean of stumps,rocks,etc. Would like to overseed this fall. Any suggestions on how to attack this with minimal trips over the field with my tractor. What would be the best seed blend? Trying to avoid fertilizer. This is eastern Virginia. Plenty of rain in the fall. I do not know anything about horse pasture management. thanks in advance.

Well two horses will make short work of the restoration efforts. If it were me, I would get a rake, bust up the ground a little, over seed it with a pasture mix, and be done with it.

A visit to the local TSC or your co-op will probably turn up the ideal pasture mix for your area. The co-op can even custom mix the seed for you.

thanks riptides. the lady boards her horses down the road so I presume she will move her horse around and restrict them to the barn for periods to take pressure off the 2.5 acres
