LS U5030C w/FEL
New guy on the block. While I've owned a small acreage for many years and have been around farms and farming much of my life, we just bought a farm and ordered a more substantial tractor, a U5030C.

Yes, I spent the extra bucks for AC & heat. At this stage of life, I can't tolerate the heat as well as when I was a kid. Come to think of it, I didn't like it very well then either.

The tractor should be delivered next Monday or Tuesday and I'm looking forward to it. It seems to be well built, full of features, quiet and reasonably priced. I hope it works out.

Welcome to the LS forum and congratulations on your new U5030C. I'll say it before anybody else -- we like lot of pics, so be sure to post some after it's delivered.:)

That,s just how I felt about Heat & Ac when I got my U5030C two weeks ago just one thing about the Air, the drain tube for the condensation comes out over the left rear tire after bush hogging for a while and stopping for look at things I saw fluid running off my newly filled rear tire I am glad I take Plavix. Good luck with your new Tractor

I think I get your drift: When I was much younger, on a diesel/electric sub, while in the middle of a very serious emergency, listing 60 degrees (easier to walk on the bulkheads than the deck), and floundering on the surface, too near to a very unfriendly coast, a huge gush of water flowed onto the after battery compartment deck and was heading for the battery access. Sea water in the battery and you have deadly chlorine gas. For all I knew, it was sea water. I grabbed blankets off every bunk in the area and fell on the battery hatch. It turned out that the last time #2 sanitary tank had been blown empty, whoever had lined up the blow forgot to open the AC condensation drain when they were done. Harmless fresh water and a potential heart attack.

Very nice. Getting some seat time on the U5030 at my sons place this weekend, can't wait. I think you will like the U series, they are powerful.

It was delivered Monday afternoon. After mowing the grass with my Grasshopper, I fired up the tractor, used it to push down a couple of dead trees and it worked like a charm. 'Cut 'em up and hauled the firewood to the pile with the FEL.

Initial impressions: Smooth, everything works the way I think it should (with the exception of the radio), and the AC blows cold.

The dealer waxed it, filled the rear tires with liquid (the kind that doesn't corrode, he said), and delivered it for no extra charge.

I won't be able to work it hard until I take it to the farm, and that won't happen until I can afford to build a metal building there to keep it in.

A friend who bought a 40-something hp open cab Mahindra came by and looked at it. It turns out he paid only $1K less for his than I did.

I'm a happy camper so far. No pics yet.

Congrats on the new tractor! Welcome to the LS club. Sounds like your friend wishes he was in the club too now.

I've got an R4047 and am getting really tempted to upgrade to a cab model. Not sure between the U and P series though.

One thing I noticed while looking in the LS cabs is that the headliner looks like an after thought and I wasn't really impressed with the plastics... On the other hand I have zero experience in cab tractors so that may be the norm or it may even be one of the nicer ones. What are your thought on the finish of the cab? I'd love to hear anyones thoughts that's got one or even just looked.

Man, I feel like the cab is finished out really nicely. The cab models we've had through had a nice padded fabric headliner...they're covered in a layer of plastic from the factory that you peel off. I also like the versatile ventilation setup with the way the doors can be latched open, rear window, sunroof, etc.
Full disclosure: I'm a dealer so maybe I'm a LITTLE biased, but I really do think they did a great job with the cab. I guess the plastics don't compare in feel to some of the soft-touch materials used in auto cabins these days, but I don't know any tractors that do.

For anybody who hasn't had a chance to see one of the cab models yet, there are quite a few pictures on this page:

You can see that the headliner still has the protective fabric over it in these pics.
