Takeuchi makes the tracked loader for Gehl and they are virtually identical except for paint. Mine is the Gehl version of the smaller model and it appears to be meticulously designed and assembled. Welds are beautiful. All wiring and hoses are neatly routed. I can't imagine any of the other brands being more carefully made.

One improvement Tak. made that wasn't available on Gehl's was their glass door on the cab slides up overhead instead of swinging out like a normal door. With the Gehl, you can't open the door unless the loader is all the way down. That's been a pain like when you load a machine on a truck, you can't get out to slide the machine out of the bucket. Otherwise, I'd recommend either.

Takeuchi only makes tracked skid steers for the US market. As Dane mentioned, the Gehl and Mustang machines are repainted Takeuchi machines, and so if you are comparing, there is no harm in using them interchangably. I'm trying to say that if you have a Gehl dealer very close, you can still assume that all discussion relates to a Takeuchi machine just as much to the Gehl. Differences arise in dealer service.

The machines are well-built. Takeuchi was the first to bring very smooth pilot controls into the skid steer world, and has the left hand drive, right hand loader control pattern. They are rather heavy machines, but they are definitely strong and should stand up rather well to heavy applications.

Perhaps a backstep, but what do you plan to do with the machine?

Takeuchi makes a solid rubber track loader. However, it is very rough riding and less productive than a similar machine with a suspension. Test out a Caterpillar MTL or an ASV machine. They ride like a Cadillac and allow for longer track life and a wider variety of operating conditions. I traded in my Takeuchi TL130 for a ASV RC 60. Best decision I ever made. I found a dealer on the ASV website..ASVI.COM
