Anyone know what threading the couplers are on the front third function and the two rear remotes? SAE or NPT?

Thanks.

So I guess no one knows? Actually not surprised much based on what I learned recently.

Just a FYI, but I bought both SAE and NPT flat face couplers from Summit thinking I was going to convert everything over to this style of coupler. But no dice. None of them worked. I started with the third function, and at best I could only get 2 threads of engagement from the NPT couplers. I then tried one on my IronCraft flail mower and could just barely get one thread of engagement. So I really don't know what the heck kind of threading I am dealing with. That being said, this is much more of a headache than I am willing to put up with, so sending all the couplers back to Summit and scrapping this project entirely. I'll just stick with the AG style couplers and call it a day.

They could be metric, British tapered pipe, British parallel pipe, etc. so hard to tell without having fittings in your hand.

So in effect, my attempt to switch everything over to flat faced couplers was foolish because or my ignorance of the difficulty that would entail. I don't know why I am surprised at the lack of standards.....

Rich,
The problem is not lack of standards it is that their are multiple different fitting standards being used today Vs NPT and SAE which used to be the most common in the USA. Your TYM is not a USA product so should not be to surprised that it does not have USA fittings.

OK, so if I had the fittings in my hand, how could I tell what they are?

I guess it is just me, but I would hope that such products being sold in the USA would adhere to the standards in the marketplace being sold within. Yeah, foolish, I know.....

Maybe a call to your local TYM dealer's service department could give you some insight.

If you have a local hydraulic shop I'm sure if you brought one of the original fittings to them they could identify it for you.

Don't give up just yet.

Yeah, for sure there's no shortage of standards. Everyone has at least couple. It's a world market these days. The best place to start would be having a couple of tools. A good set of thread-count gages and a caliper. Knowing the threads per inch and the OD of the male thread will help determine which "standard" is being used. ;)

Discount Hydraulic Hose has a nice Thread Guide PDF file you can use to check fitting ends.

Here's chart that shows various standards and the sizes of each with a thread count. You can save this image or print it out.

Looking at the parts manuals for my tractors, and a couple of other TYM tractors, the part numbers for the couplers are different for the US models than the EU models. And there are metric to SAE Straight pipe thread on the hard lines from the rear control valve to the coupler.

But the parts manuals just refer to them as "Coupler" with no call out for the threading.

A problem I noticed is that the part diagrams, and parts lists for the add on kits for the rear remote and third function, aren't available on the website. So, there isn't any way to look up anything relevant to them.

I bought a hydraulic fitting thread identification kit off Amazon:
