Shopping for a tractor for 10 acres. I subscribe to the keep it simple philosophy and the T1510 was shown to me by the dealer and he said he sells lots of them for what I am looking to do. It looked good but small. Mostly metal on the tractor.Simple injection system. FWD. Is this a good tractor? Did it have a different model # before? I am looking to clear small Cedar trees( I have heard they push over easily) and clear for a homestead. I checked JD and they look more complicated than they need to be. Checked Mahindra and they are as simple also and inexpensive.

The T1510 design has been around for 20 years. Originally sold as the 1520, then upgraded to the 1620, then the TC30 before becoming ther T1510. Major differences over the years have been power increase, Fuel system changes to accomodate EPA regs, and safety start/operating circuits. They are a solid, no frills tractor.

RickB is right on.

You couldn't get more tractor for the money, as long as your dealer is treating you fairly.

You'll be able to get parts for that thing well into the next millenium.

I looked at and operated a 1510 at the dealer before I bought. Just what I was looking for. I also shopped othe brands but came back to the NH. When workin up the package- FEL, 6' finish mower and a 5' boxblade- the manager let me go with the 1520 (same tractor w/35 hp) for very little more. Anyway, I am very pleased with it. Only 70 hours but no problems, it does all I have asked of it. I don't see how you could go wrong.

I think you made a wise choice. I think in many ways the design simplicity wins me over and the fact it's all metal. I just wondered if they have quick attach as an option for the loader and if you can get NH sub frame for the loader install. Sub frame goes a long way in my opinion for heavy loader work.
Is there any option for shuttle shift transmission for 1520?

I don't really know about a quick attach for the FEL , but I can have the complete loader, arms and bucket , off in 2 minutes. Back on is about the same. I was also thinking of a backhoe but the cost kinda put a stop to that. Really, someone familiar with operating one could do in 8 hours what would probably take me 8 weeks.

Thanks for the replies. I have been shopping around and while talking to a Yanmar dealer here in Austin he mentioned that parts for the T1510 may get hard to come by. I guess they are made by Shibaura. ANy opinions? Another question is the tractor strong enough? I have seen pics of tc30's cracking the block or transmission where the loader attaches. Has this been corrected in the T1510 or will I worry about using the loader? I am taking the spousal unit (very understanding wife) with me tomorrow to look at tractors. The dealer here in Austin is giving me a price of 15K with a bushhog loader. Good price?

I just asked our Parts Manager if he ever has problems getting parts for the old 1700/1710/1720 Ford & New Holland tractors that were all made by Shibaru, and he said, "nope."

Yep.. never had any problems finding parts for my 1700 from NH dealer here in Kansas City. Additionally, many parts such as 3 points lift piston seal is shared amongst several newer TC model and they can cross check/reference and get you the right part for a long time to come. Probably the story might change if you want to buy specific stuff in the engine or transmission or engine overhaul that might not be easy to find or cha ching$$ expensive. All major parts of tractor should be good for the life of the equipment unlike the consumable. A bit of TLC and you should get all your money's worth in the long run.

Are you saying a yanmar dealer is suggesting that New Holland parts are going to be hard to find? This sounds kind of ironic to me:D
