New Holland T1110
I bought a T1110 in November. Moved some snow with it this winter and there appear to be no issues with engine performance. It only has 92 hours on it. I have changed all the fluids and filters on the tractor except the the fuel filter.

At a low idle i notice an annoying knocking sound. I have had other shibaura diesels and i'm familiar with the sound of a diesel at a low idle. This seems to be more of a vibration noise like the motor or something is banging on something. If I take a piece of wood and just push gently on the exhaust side of the engine the knock goes away. It doesn't take much force.

I've checked the motor mount bolts, exhaust bracket that holds the last piece of the exhaust, crawled under the tractor several times and cannot find what this noise it. The sound does go away if I up the rpms.

I don't think it's an engine issue. No unusual smoke, no knock at higher rpm and I've run it at full rpms for an hour or so at a time with no issues. I've spoken with some of my friends and at 92 hours they can't imagine it would be an engine issue.

Anyone have any ideas on what i could check next? Anyone think it could be an engine issue? The loader is off of the tractor also.

Thanks guys!

Happy Easter! He lives!

What I do is to take an automotive stethoscope and start listening to where noise is coming from. Putting the probe in strategic block and head location might be able to give you tell tale sign. Low frequency noise and vibration can easily be transmitted thru metal parts and using the tool is much simpler to pin point the source specially standing next to a noisy diesel engine. You can listen to friction or ball bearing and it'll tell about about lubrication of lack of it.

Happy Easter :)

Harbor Freight has those stethoscope at times about $3.

Thanks JC. As soon as you wrote that i was already thinking about harbor freight. Think i'll have to pick one up. I'll post what i find. Hope it's nothing major.

Haven't had a chance to get the stethescope yet. I did run the tractor for 5 hours today rolling grass. Also, put some fuel conditioner in the tank. Tractor ran great so I'm thinking and hoping it's not a mechanical problem.

You can always use a piece of 1/2 inch conduit to use as a stethoscope. Hopefully is not anything mechanical. Can't see major engine problem after running it for 5 hrs,
