Can synthetic used oil be burned in waste oil furnaces. If so are there any side effects like more soot, hotter flame etc. Does anybody burn synthetic waste oil?

I might call Amsoil and ask them. That's one question I've never heard asked before, much less answered.

Yes you can. I bring my neighbor about 12 gallons of used Amsoil 15w-40 every year and he loves used oil. I also through in diesel fuel with it (when I drain my fuel filter).

My local truck mechanic said that he didn't get a waste oil furnace because it takes a long while to get your money back. He also said that the furnaces really don't like brake fluid and some other things that garages often put into waste oil.
