I live in Rogersville MO. the temperature ranges from about 90 to 20 degrees I am considering synthetic oil would anybody care to make a recomendation as to
viscosity and brand? I have almost 100 hours on my 3840. I use it for cutting brush a little garden plowing (two bottom plow) post hole auger. I have a blade and a FEL I use to move things to heavy for me to lift.

I use Rotella Full Synthetic 5w-40 year round in my Kubota L3940. Even on some cold Virginia mornings it starts right up and doesn't have the terrible rattle sound while the oil is trying to get flowing.
Try it, you'll like it! :D

Thanks very much for the reply Rotella 5w-40 was what I was thinking just needed a conformation . Alot of the time in the winter I only have my tractor running long enough to load a roundbale.

Been running synthetic in my 4940C for over a year now. I have almost 300 hours on mine. I use Amsoil (and highly recommend it). I'm in Texas where it gets really hot and quite cold (down to 20 degrees). My engine runs much cooler int the summer which is a big benefit. My dealer had recommending going to synthetic after a year with it. I use SAE 40 which was recommended by Mitsubishi the engine manufacturer.
I will change all my oil's over to synthetic (once I get a bank loan for the 41 liters of hydraulic).
I think you'll be please with the performance of synthetic in your tractor.
