Looking for a synthetic equivalent for mobile dte 26 hydrostatic oil. Not much luck finding anything. Or is there none? For a woods 6210 mow'n machine. Never been changed and thinking I'd like to try it. Always been rather noisey.

Checking them out. Can't say I ever heard of them but it seems they offer something for any application. Looking for just a few gallons. Thanks for reply.

I cant see a real benefit to using synthetic oil in hydraulics. It isn't like engine oil that breaks down because of high heat and sulfur/carbon contaminates from combustion nor are they likely to get a lot of contaminates from water condensation. A good grade of hydraulic oil will last most of a lifetime if it is just for hydraulics and not used in the HST also.
For your HST / hydraulic combination reservoir, Kubota SUDT is supposed to be full synthetic if that is what you are looking for. It supposedly reduces whine in the HST and especially good for those using snowblowers during 0F temps. My Kubota dealer doesn't stock it because he says UDT is all we need here due to not getting that cold.

Thanks Gary I agree. Just that ever since new (1997) it always whined more than I thought it should. Always worked good never any problems (800 hrs) . Just thought since its time to change oil I might try something different to see if it might quiet it up alittle.

Well, hydraulic oils have some more hassles to deal with than many engine oils. They do tend to get pretty hot, as much as any oil in an engine (which is why hydraulic fluid cooling is so critical), and they are subject to shearing forces far more than most engine oils. This is more pronounced in hydrostatic trans that usually share the fluid with the hydraulics. A synthetic can be a major plus in that environment, especially in frequently used equipment. Required? Probably not. But one can go longer hrs between fluid changes with a synthetic in there.

For tractor transaxle oil, the only synthetic I am away of is Kubota SUDT2 and yes, it makes a world of difference in hydro transmissions and hydraulic shuttle transmissions. I have done posts on it, once after changing my B7800 trans oil and replacing with Deere Hygard oil. JD oil is the absolute best in my book but it's not synthetic and my B7800 trans whined more and kicked in slower after the switch. I changed back to SUDT2 Kubota synthetic and all was good again.

For the hydraulic shuttle shift M6800, I again replaced the original oil with Deere and immediately noticed slower engagement. It baffled me so I switched back to SUDT2 and problem solved. Now, Deere is the best there is, period so it has to be the hydraulic aspect and I think there is a marketing opportunity waiting to happen.

I think Amsoil makes a synthetic as well but because everyone seems to be a dealer, and therefore has a dog in the fight, I view all opinions as suspect and don't listen. Some big major, besides Kubota is going to introduce a synthetic trans oil ASAP, and I believe it will have the same profound impact synthetic engine oil has had. Most everyone, especially in a cooler climate uses that.

I run Amsoil in my GC1720. A buddy of mine uses Amsoil fluids in his race car and likes them, so I thought I would give it a try. No idea if its worth the price or not, but everything seems to run just fine.

I'm glad I saw your post sixdogs because I've been thinking about doing the same thing to my B7800. did you use the low viscosity hy gard or the regular hygard.

Last time I did my hydro oil change I noticed on the Kubota oil pail that the Kubota sudt met the requirements of john deere spec j20d. So I assumed the oils were equivalent. this was before the advent of sudt2.

Maybe there is a reason why the Kubota oil is a good 30% more expensive than the john deere oil.
