Swivel seat on JD 2305

I have been using my backhoe quite a bit lately digging new drainage ditches on my property. The more I use it, the more frustrated I get trying to swivel the seat back and forth from driving to digging. It gets caught up EVERY time and needs plenty of muscle to get it to swivel. Anyone else having this problem and if so what is the solution? Modification? New seat? Help!

Have you lubed all the moving parts? Fluid Film would be perfect here...

No lube yet, but I'm going to try that tomorrow. It's not so much a lubrication problem as it is a design problem. I would really like to purchase a new swivel seat that is designed differently and wouldnt be such a pain. I havent began the search for one yet though.

I sprayed my ,and I will have to say it helped,,,some not as bad as before.

I tried the new swivel they now offer on the 2305 . Much ,much,much better
Shame JD won't offer the owners of the piece of s____ we have some kind of offer to upgrade. I haven't taken the time to check the price of the new unit , but I will say if I had to chg the seat around everyday It would be changed !!!

True waste of someone thought in the engineering department !!!!!!!!!
Not what the customer had asked !!!!

Well I'm glad to hear that they did in fact make a new seat design. I will have to take a drive to my JD dealer and take a look at it. I tried to lube my current seat and it didnt help at all. POORLY designed! I wish I would have realized it before i bought it, but I did'nt plan on purchasing a back-hoe at the time of tractor purchase, so I never even tried to swivel the seat....too late now. Thanks for the info, I'll let ya know if I can get some sort of discount towards the purchase of the newly designed seat!

Good luck with the discount. They will think it is above and beyond to sell you one at retail. Deere will never admit their design is not adequate but designed solely for this machine.
Were still argueing over an ignition switch that can be used for the pre heat system. Why some uninteligent engineer felt you had to place the tractor in gear to get it to work is beyond me. I hope they don't pay him much. Must have graduated LAST in his class.

Yea I know what you mean.!!!! I know they look at different brands and I bet there first one is Kubota then maybe MF either one has a very nice and easy to switch seat from front to BH
Shame they cannot see what the others are doing.!!!!

Yeah I have to say it is probably the worst seat design that I have ever had to use. A couple times ive just stood up on the back and used the BH without moving the seat but that gets old real quick. Let us know what price they tell you for that new seat design and if you have the part number for it that would be great. Thanks.

I'm going to try to get to the dealer sometime this week if I can find the time. I will let ya know the pricing, part #, etc.... I have a feeling I'm not gonna like any of the answers I get!!
