I like it! You could cut a piece of 3/8 plywood for the top, laminate some masonite on it, and have a removeable, regular bench top also.

I made a simple 3/8 plywood cover for my Delta table saw. Laminated tub surround masonite on it, brown up. Put some 2x2 strips along the edge, under the plywood.

It protects my expensive table saw surface and turns the saw into a great work bench surface. I even weld on it.

I'll be looking for grating. Thanks!
