This weekend I visited the TSC and picked up a sun shade by a US company called TuffTop. You can find them on the web at TuffTOP : The Smartest Sun Shade on the Market . They come in a variety of colors, though the one I purchased is white. It seems to be a nicely constructed yet light weight shade that is easy to install and remove. I've got it installed on my tractor now, and will try it out this week. I've been looking for a light weight shade of some sort for my TC30 as I will have to totally remove it, including mounting brackets, due to clearance concerns for the door I drive the TC though when it is stored. This one seems to be quite easy to manipulate yet secure when mounted. Will field test it soon.

Have ya thought about a buggy top? Most of them install right over rops, and just fold up when not needed.. provide decent shade.. and are a breeze to mount.

Soundguy, do you know a source for a buggy top? How do you mount it to the FEL? Pipeclamps?

I figured that's what you meant.. but then again... I've seen some strange things in my life that were done for a reason.. so.. I asked.

Called the company today. Very helpful with my small concern. The shade looks good on the tractor. Didn't get a chance to pull in out into the sunchine this afternoon though.

Soundguy, Yes I did also look at the buggy top and umbrella at TSC. When I saw this one, I thought I'd give it a try. Wasn't sure at first, but TSC was fine with taking it back if I didn't like it. However, I think I'll keep it. Not that big of a deal to remove. The TC presented a little problem for me though. Its ROPS is actually two pieces. Has this inserted bar that is used in bolting the two halves together right in the top center. And wouldn't you know it, that is right where the mounting bracket for this top needed to be placed. Two bolt heads were kind of in the way. It would work with them, since the mounting bracket incased the rollbar on all four sides once installed, but I didn't like those bolt heads. So I just cut a piece of 1x4 the size of the rear bracket, to be used as a spacer, and routered out two holes for the heads. Actually solved two problems at once. Now if I remove the bracket, I do not have to worry about realigning it when I install it. The spacer shows precisely where the bracket is to be mounted.

Nothing is ever simple.

I do a bit of contract mowing and it seems like I spent most of my spring/summer mowing in the rain wishing I bought a cab option or some sort of sunshade to take the curse off the weather. I like the buggy top idea whereas it can be folded down or easily removed when not needed or during towing. I don't have a TSC store near me but I found a similar item on the AGRISUPPLY.com website - they will ship items. Theirs looks more like a typical fiberglass canopy but the canvas top is replaceable and the framework appears to fold up. I'm going to look into it further. Just another option.
