I own a JD 1023e and am looking to purchase some front suitcase weights. I found some on Craigslist 110 pounds each. They are IH brand. Will they work with my tractor?

I built a bumper/weight rack for my JD2210 that will hold two 110# suitcase weights. They mount sideways so they don't stick out the front so far. I have bought all of my suitcase weights at farm sales. Never paid $1 per pound. But that's the going price for new weights. You might get along better with the weights Ron has suggested.

Here's some pics of my setup.

Given that the center of mass of those weights is closer to the front axle than if they were mounted in the conventional manner have you calculated how much less weight they add to the front axle when a 60” box blade is mounted on the three point hitch?

They don't hang out as far forward, that might be a good thing in tight spots.

Richard is indeed busy. Fabricating a new bracket to enable hanging those suitcase weights PROPERLY. (as the tractor gods intended).

I agree. I’m trying to harass Richard a bit. He is either busy today or simply ignoring me.:confused3:

I never ignore you my friend. Made a roadtrip today to buy a "new" "old" Super Duty.

I started with conventional mount and constantly bashed them into something.

Also, I'm strapping 220lbs of weight on a 1900lb SCUT. It definitely knows the weight is there. :)

Nice! Diesel? Year? I put about 100k on an 01 Stroke F350 SRW with a service body at work up in NY. They put a new body on it last winter and Walt said it has got 235k on it now.

Been driving a 2000 F250 7.3L for ten years. 260K miles on it and the body is gone.

This truck is a 2002 F250 7.3L with 130K miles. Originally a Texas truck, no rust. Paid $13K.

Fluid Fill your Frt tires.

The weight is lower & It doesn’t add stress on frt axle pivot.

...or calculated the maximum side hill tip angle driving one direction versus driving the other direction (i.e. calculated the twisting effect on the frame) ? :D
