I am looking at either a John Deere 1025R, Massey Ferguson GC1705 or the Kubota BX2380. How do you guys like the deck mowers on the compact tractors? Looking at a 54"/60" deck. I would be using it on my 2.5 acre farmette. Pros and cons would be appriciated!

I thought about a zero turn but I would like a tractor for the multi use part of it. Can really afford a tractor and zero turn so it's one or the other. I do have a 34" simplicity riding mower already Thanks FB_IMG_1527784628433.jpeg

Well I had a zero turn, and last fall bought a Mahindra Emax with a 60" deck and love it! Mows very nice! And doesn't take any longer than the zero turn, but my zero turn was 48"

And like you said the multi use is nice. I have the front end loader and 6' back blade for it also. And a trailer mover for the 3 point hitch. That really comes in handy for moving my trailers around. So easy to back up and center the ball under the hitch and just pick it up and go.

Go with the 60" deck if it will fit b/w your landscaping. The wider deck makes it easier to get close to things and reduces your turning radius. I still mow with my bx2200 I bought in 2000 and it works great. I'm sure it will still be mowing 18 yrs from now. Just keep up with your maintenance. Definitely spring for the FEL with the quick attach. You will use it a lot more than you think. The only disadvantage to the subs vs the compacts is the ground clearance and implements cost about $100 more each. However, the smaller size makes it better for mowing. I got a B series for bigger tractor work, but it doesn't mow as good and I went back to the bx for mowing. Someday I'll trade the bx for ztr.

I have an older version of the tractor you are looking at, a BX2350 with the 60" deck. When I bought it I had a cheaper John Deere mower (if cheap is $3000) and it had a 54" deck and something like a 26hp gas engine. I was going to keep it and mow with it some but found I liked mowing with the BX so much more I sold the John Deere. I really like the versatility also. Even though they are a very small tractor, you can do a lot of work with one.

You should be fine with any of those, it's really just a time thing. Be prepared to get lots of seat time mowing.

As long as your time isn't an issue, a SCUT certainly does everything pretty well, and is a good "one tool" to have.

I test drove and compared them today. I am going with the Massey Ferguson tractor. Hopefully get it tomorrow!
