STX 38 PROBLEM...CAN ANYONE SUGGEST A FIX?

I bought an STX 38 that had been sitting around for about 6 years....new oil,gas, changed plug, needed a carburetor, and battey...once I put in the new carb, it started immediately...I was using it for about 10 minutes and it died...the starting circuit fuse was blown...I replaced it and it will not start...the new fuse (1 amp) is not blowing, but it cranks like mad, just won't start....I took off the carb to see if maybe some dirt was in the line, but it seemed clear, so I reinstalled to no avail anyone have any thoughts?....I am new on this forum so I don't know how I would get a reply, but if anyone can offer a suggestion, I would appreciate it.. my email is MLSALAMACK@AOL.COM thanks for anything you may suggest

Do you have spark at the spark plug. If no try replacing the plug. If still no spark, remove the blower housing from the engine, and disconnect the wire going to the ignition module, and then check for spark. if no spark replace module. Also something to check if the module is bad, and before installing a new module, connect a test light or meter to the ground wire and move the key switch through all positions multiple times. Like recommend by manufacturer 50 cycles. if at any time you get voltage on the kill wire, replace the key switch before installing the new module.
