HI Guys:
A few peps been talking about the KATZ 14600 block heaters for their JM tractors and most of the comments have been good. Someone posted that they put one one and it worked first time then died, well I'm the second person this has happened to. I picked one up just after X-Mas and put it on it worked the first time just fine. I ran the tractor doing some wood cutting that day and hauled half cord up to the garage for Syrup Boiling this spring. I went to fire it up today and the heater was DOP Dead on Plugging it in. It had worked first time this is the second time of going to use the heater. I called them down at TSC the one I picked up was last one on the shelf and they said to bring it in, so I asked if they had a replacement? NOPE none in stock at the surrounding 3 TSCs so now I had to have them order one and wait. Kid said bring it in and he would refund me the cash... He didnt know it was installed into the lower rad hose and has to be installed to use the tractor. SO they are going to call me when it comes in. They did have a 14700 but I think that is like 1.75" hose and didnt think it would fit.
ANYHOW I put my old trusty heat lamp on and left it for 20 min while I went & got dressed for drive way plowing. I managed to plow the drive really well she started up with the glow plugs and all real well even without the block heater functioning It was real fun plowing today as it was not all that cold but was kind of bright. I had easy +8" on the ground and it was light & mostly fluffy enough to move well. I plowed in 2nd gear high range and that made for some fun, not very often you can power slide a tractor

I found out last year that keeping the speed up makes MOVING the snow much easier to push it to the side with the plow/back blade angled over about 20 degrees and moved the snow as much sideways as it does forward. I only have one spot that I need to be careful on as the driveway side drops off some, (not enough to tip the tractor) but will give you some pucker factor if the rear end slides off that way.
anyhow will pull the heater out this weekend and have it in the car to swap out at my local TSC.
