I bought a new to me Ashland sc-21 and the main shaft that spins the cutting wheel was twisted when I got it. I have it torn apart but need to locate a 4' section of what appears to be 1 1/8 solid square tubing. It has a hole drilled thru on one end. So far I haven't been able to locate anything that would work except a few pieces that have a yoke on one end.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Does it need to be 1.125?
I see 1" and 1.25" readily available.
Was looking at onlinemetals.com

Didn't know if 1.25 would work. You could grind on the ends to take off. 0625 per side. Wouldn't be extremely enjoyable or precise but might work depending on how the setup is designed.

Look in the local phone book and find a local machine shop. I seem to have better luck at the smaller ones, the big ones see small things like selling a piece of shafting as a nuisance. I just got a piece of 7/8 sq shafting for my blacksmith shop, so the different sizes are out there.

Steel suppliers are also an idea. I just got a 12' piece of 1 1/2 aluminum square shafting for $10 more than I could get a 18" piece on line and I did nor have to pay shipping. around here we have dillon supply but there are others. Ed

Thanks for all the suggestions. Called the manufacturer back and they were great. Gave me the name of the supplier. Called them and was given a part number to use at my local Napa. I had stopped earlier but they were lost. With the part number, I had the new shaft a few hrs later. Took it to a machine shop to drill the hole for the pin.

Rest of the stump grinder is shaping up to being a trainwreck. Have the rear outriggers completely torn apart. Will probably be starting an Ashland thread since I was been unable to locate anything on the Internet! Hopefully it'll help others
