Good for her. We need more farmers to stand up to the idiots at the top.

I can bet that most the people who come up with these regulations haven't even been to a farm.

I like her fortitude and I think it was likely survival she was fighting for. 40k in fines would ruin most farmers. 40k in false fines is immoral IMO.

The EPA (as well as lots of other government agencies) has gotten out of hand. I think the main thing they are concerned with is finding new things to study and thus to impose rulings so they can enjoy job security.

The purpose of all bureaucracies is to justify themselves and grow. Seldom is their primary goal related to their original purpose.

"What does a bureaucracy do when they see the light at the end of the tunnel?
....build more tunnel!" :(

I think lady is great for winning her battle, but if she wants to win the war, she needs to drop this lawsuit. The EPA is 'lawyer fat' and will carry this case forward, ad infinitum. There's probably some sense in letting the case drag on a bit, but she should not waste a cent fighting more battles when she has at least won this one.

I think she is fighting it with money from other sources.

This would be a good case for the other farm organizations to back. Push the EPA to the wall if they can.

Jim,

The story says the farmer is being backed by the West Virgina and American Farm Bureaus. Those organizations may be picking up part (all?) of the tab as a test case on behalf of their members.
