stuck fuel filter on an 09 JD 4720

I have an 09 4720 without the sight glass bowl on the bottom of the fuel filter. The manuel says to drain the filter then turn it a quaurter turn counter clockwise and pull down to release it. when I turn it(CCW) it only moves about 1/32 of a turn, not a full 1/4 turn. I have not drained it yet just in case I couldn't get it off and then have to go thru the bleeding process for nothing. This is not possibly why it won't come off, is it?:confused3: Do I just need to twist her harder? It seems like I'm using plenty of force already as the bracket it is attached to is flexing while I'm twisting it. Any ideas fellas? Thanx in advance:anyone:

I have a 4720 2007 year that the fuel filter started leaking after 3 hours of use. I supposed that the dealer had not fully locked it in so for the first 100 hours I was rather paranoid about it leaking and coming loose and was always checking it for tightness. When I did the change out I bled it and pushed up a just a bit to take off the weight and it turned quite easily. I am actually surprised that there is not a lock of some type to prevent loosening. I would drain it and try again. Re-priming it is very easy and should not be a problem .

when you get the old one off, fill the new filter with fuel. if you don't, priming will take a long time
