Hey everyone,

My wife and I have had a garden for the last 4 years. We typically plant beans, tomatoes, potatoes, squash, onions and peas. We built a raised garden by the house and planted strawberry plants for the first time. They have been in the ground for about a week. I bought 100% cedar mulch (no coloring) for my weed control and keeping berries off the ground. My question is......

Do you clip the flowers off the entire first year? Or do you do it for the first month and then let them grow?

As of right now we are clipping them but letting the runners RUN..

Any helpful tips is appreciated

Thanks

Are they Junebearing or day neutral? I suspect the former as you say they're putting out runners; and you do want to clip the blossoms. If they are day-neutral, AKA everbearing, you can start picking them this year.
